We seem to have a very good vibe coming from the R's of late, and it feels so nice I'm cautiously very excited about the coming season U Rs
3 great defenders for the R’s. Spent a great afternoon with TF and Bobby Robson in the Guinness lounge in 1986 after we beat Newcastle at home. Bob Hazel was probably the most exciting player I saw in my 47 years of watching the R’s. When he started one of his forward runs the crowd all stood up. Of course there was more skilful players but his runs were legendary
It’s been great to read the positive reviews of our team over the past weeks. All makes for a promising start….. we hope!
Apparently Maddison, though he is a very exciting player, is an ego on legs and has multiple off the pitch issues. Also a bit of a sick note. Though they were surprised he wasn’t even in the squad for yesterday. Leicester have also hamstrung themselves a little by promising Jamie Vardy that he will always be the highest paid player at the club, and now he’s 34 with 2 years on his contract, on £140k a week. Keeping Tielemans is their big issue. It’s interesting hearing about the problems of clubs which, from where we sit, have absolutely no problems at all. Leicester have just opened a £100m training/academy/community complex, funded by the sales of Maguire, Mahrez, Kante and Drinkwater. They are also seeking to expand their stadium capacity to 40,000 from the permanently sold out 32,000. It’s a real struggle for them. And in January 2014/15 they were bottom of the PL and we were 2 places above them. I have a real soft spot for them but they are a constant reminder of how much we ****ed it up.

Maddison’s wife gave birth yesterday, that’s reason not in squad, I think he’s a quality player & would like him in the England squad
You were right @rangercol , no names on the back of our shirts (I blame failing eyesight, distance and the odd shape of the numbers, which I still couldn’t read from the stands). What the **** was Dieng charging into Baka in that position for? Bit of learning there, goalkeeping coaches.
It was a very entertaining match. I thought we played very well and controlled the match for the first 60 minutes and deserved to be leading 2-0. This was against a strong Leicester starting eleven. The match dynamics clearly changed when Leicester made a whole-scale team substitution (9 players in one shot!) whilst we made standard match substitutions. Thus, we played a fresh new team for the last 30 minutes. I watched the match on the LCFC YouTube Channel and was very impressed by their very objective and complimentary commentary. They were very impressed with our play, especially our fast movement off the ball. I am looking already forward to the Millwall match!
There was absolutely no need for Dieng to come for that ball, considering the angle didnt favour the striker but hey ho. Is it just me or does anyone else think our game always changes for the worse when Thomas comes on. Unfortunately im yet to see anything that would get him near a starting place. A decent squad player at best in my opinion.
How about that, we are all disappointed that we didn’t win, against a top prem team and F A Cup holders, that’s my QPR this season
Unfortunately we probably havent got the depth to make 9 subs at once. I suppose the theory being, being ahead in pre season schedule might have seen us through against fresher and some less experienced legs
True. But I think we wanted to play the match in “real match conditions”, thus the majority of players were on the pitch for a 90 minute work out, as it will be next Saturday.
I was also very impressed with the commentators on the LCFC YouTube feed. Ours always sound embarrassing when I hear them on social media highlights of games.
Yep so was I & they was very impressed with the football we played, makes a change to here compliments about our team
QPR+, much as I like watching and listening to them, is rather “partisan”. I was very impressed by the objective, relaxed and informative opinions on the LCFC stream. They did regard it as a genuine “Pre-season” match and were very realistic, and complimentary. I admit that it was quite an enjoyable experience.
Yes, their Commentators were pretty neutral, and the picture better. Watched the 1st half on their TV because QPR + wasn't working when the game was about to start, but went home for the 2nd half. The sound was very quiet as it was also for the ManU game. They better have it sorted for next weekend!
Just delighted to read all the positive posts..... I was out all afternoon and evening yesterday so only now catching up..... Looking forward to the Millwall game......last 2 home games against them the aggregate score is 7-5, so 0-0 written all over it...... Up the R's
I hope they print red names and numbers on the back before the Millwall game as the present black colour makes it hard to read for most fans (not just those over sixty)!
It might be a tough game against Millwall next week. Look how they play under Rowett as opposed to Harris. I know it's only Ipswich, but still ... I think the pragmatic Rowett will see a draw against us as a success. I personally think he will be looking to avoid a defeat.
