BURGE. He's a decent keeper in a poor league. Notwithstanding, he will come up against some decent players in a poor league. He will also show that he is human and make some errors, although I don't think yesterday was his error, yet I concede he could have calmed the tempo down a touch by holding the ball for a few seconds. He did many good things and some average things. He did nothing "wrong" yesterday. If we get promoted, which I believe we will, then we definitely would need a new number one. At the mo, IMHO, the need for a strike partner or cover for Ross S, then a RB overshadow the perceived need to replace Lee Burge. He does surprisingly well and the evidence is that he doesn't make that many mistakes, as long as a mistake isn't classified as he could have done something different that would have looked better. Wish he'd get rid of that beard though - Im sure it must slow him down , or he'll trip over it one day!
Watched the full 90 earlier on today, the chance Pritchard had when he hit the side netting was Quinn/Phillips-esque. Obviously, Phillips would have finished it () but the run, flick on and strike was excellent from him and Stewart. Cirkin did well considering he only arrived a few days ago. Gooch got himself wound up by their no 4 early on and I was surprised it took that long for him to get booked although I do think he should have had a couple more free kicks. Decent side MK Dons, should be top 8 no probs.
Missed the game yesterday as I was at Bradford v Oldham (don't ask!) but it appears we were maybe on the lucky side to come away with the 3 points. Is that accurate? According to my (overly negative) mate it was "all MK Dons" from the point where they scored..... Another goal for the LND and delighted to see Embleton to get his goal. Any stand outs? How did the new lad get on?
Stewart led the line really well again, Cirkin was very good considering he hadn't had much training with the team, he looks a real athlete. Evans went off with an injury. Hard work but we got the win which is the main thing. I wouldn't say it was all MK Dons, Pritchard, Stewart had great chances to finish them off and Gooch missed the pen.
Nice one, ta. Was refreshing twitter/skybet throughout the 90 mins at Bradford - you always assume the worst when Skybet goes "MKD Dangerous Attack"
I reckon that channel will get a cult following after the Wigan video and this one. I don't mind it tbh, just fans having a bit of banter.
They never looked like scoring though. Once they scored they looked dangerous. Goal will have given that boost but it was a gift and they never say under dangerous. After our second we looked like probably going on and scoring another. Certainly sounded like it
Then I'll respond. This poster has never said anything positive on here. He is boring and repetitive.
He saved at least 4 penalties last season, he's cost us no points this season... give the lad a break, he's human, he isn't perfect but he is a decent keeper and once he has settled defence in front of him he can only get better
Why invest in another GK? Say burge is injured and get an emergency loan from the Premier league. Not that I think we need to replace him, but in any case there are other positions we need to invest in first (wages and fees)
Excellent, get Troy parrot signed and in goal fer us man. More points than Burge and an attacking goalie
They did look dangerous in the last 10 minutes or so,which was largely because we sat so deep. I really hope we learn from it and don't repeat it. It's such a dangerous thing to do,particularly if you start it far too early. If Goochy hadn't have taken such a piss poor penalty,it would have been more comfortable mind.
Sorry that’s what I meant. Until they got their goal (gift wrapped by at least 3 of our players) they didn’t create much at all. One of my mates says “we didn’t deserve to win. They were miles better” when I asked if he meant fir all 90 or just the time from their goal he changed his mind. Often we only remember the end of a game when we finish poorly and forget the rest. If you’re the best team fir 65 minutes and the worst team for the last 25 a lot say you’re the quest team. And vice versa. Totally ignoring the amount of time you were on too it comfortable (which we were Saturday) Re the penalty, why was it “piss poor”? It hit the target. McGeady’s was way further from the corner than Gooch’s but it went in so nobody complains. Any penalty which is on target (except Jeff Whitley’s) is a good enough penalty for me. If the keeper guesses right then so be it. Just an opinion mind
This is not a bad article explaining how we won the match :- https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...nderlands-gameplan-after-beating-mk-dons-away
