In a strange sort of way, distribution isn't as important as it was then. (hear me out as I know that sounds stupid).

Before, for as long as forever, we played it long. His distribution playing it long was shocking.

Now all he has to do is pass it to one of the centre backs.

 

You’re right, he didn’t command his box well. However, he’s a good shot stopper and knows how to communicate with a back line,maybe his experience will be valuable to us,….. even just to give Burge some tips.

 

Mannone isn't perfect. If he was, there'd be no chance of him coming to league 1.

He has weaknesses. Distribution and commanding his box were two. But now we have two giant centre backs that latter one is slightly less important.

But he's definitely an improvement on Burge and that's clearly the question we need to answer here. He also has excellent experience and leadership which will help with a young defence

 

Much easier to command against L1 players as opposed to Rooney as such. Not even a discussion, won't happen, but if it did it would be a sensational coup

 

KLD just needs to get on the blower to Sartori who then just needs to give his Mrs a nudge

 

I’d have Mannone back.

He had his flaws but at this level, I think he’d be a step up from Burge.

 

I genuinely think Burge has done well and is good enough at League 1. Vito would be a next season player if we go up, which I think we will. I don’t think the GK position will determine the promotion places.

 

As a poster previously alluded to by a well known poster Vito would be an excellent addition to the “senior players” part of the set up.

 

Also would like to think the young keepers would learn a hell of a lot from him. Sensible signing if it happens

I'd absolutely have him back - if we'd kept him instead of buying Steele then I'm confident we'd still be a Championship club

I’m really impressed with what I’ve seen so far from our recruitment team. The signing of Mannone would blow me away though.

Fingers crossed, cos I’d love to see him back at the club.

 

It’s all a fantastic ploy to get Defoe back aswell. Naturally they’ll both become coaches for us and pass on their experience to our youngens.
