Thati is more like a result one would expect from a team in its tenth consecutive year of PL football against one of the top sides. Find a way to match them and this time it was achieved. My target would be an accumulation of at least 10 points against the so called Top 6, and then winning 50% of matches against the rest.
Well I didn’t expect that. Really good point, in a game that could have gone either way, given our chances in the second half, but probably a fair result. Defending set pieces. WTF is going on there? I mentioned on one thread, during the week, that I would get someone like Tony Pulis in on a 3 month contract, just to drill the team in defending set pieces, because we clearly don’t have a plan, which could be the difference between turning a good performance into a loss.
Enjoyed the game (once I got in) but if season ticket holders don’t get a pro rata refund while general sales do, it would be an absolute slap in the face and surely impossible to justify with any form of coherent logic
His tackle on Fernandes before the goal was so pleasing. Stephens is a great footballer, he just has poor positioning and is prone to the odd brainfart. He improves when he is given a run of games, understandably.
Really enjoyed our pressing today too. It was not as constant as it has been, which likely conserved energy, but when we did press it was extremely effective and led to our goal and other clear chances.
Think I heard on Solent all fans who had tickets for today's game including season ticket holders are getting a refund for today's game as an apology
But martial came in for James didn’t he? Which is an improvement on last week for them. James was awful by all accounts
Wow! That's unexpected bonus has made my day! Still looking shaky defensively but hopefully morale high going into the next game. Relieved we made subs before the end of the game too.
Thought the atmosphere was great as well today. Not surprising really, given that St Mary's was full for the first time in 18 months and the team were giving the crowd a performance to cheer on.
Also, credit to McCarthy in goal. I might have missed something due to my dodgy stream, but he was punching well under pressure, and made a great save from Matic.
Thought both Stephens and Salisu were excellent today. Stephens made one sloppy pass which resulted in a dangerous free kick for United but other than that really good. Tino is definitely, in FM terms, a wonderkid. He's just so confident for an 18 year old.
