It’s a shame for Valery in a way as he had a very good pre season and was looking more like the player that excited when he first broke through. But it’s come too late really, as we suddenly have the best quality depth we’ve had at RB since Clyne and Chambers were good. Can see us loaning out Long and Valery and selling or loaning Obafemi. Thought Ely was going to be on that list too and maybe he would have been if he hadn’t impressed in the last two games. In an ideal world we’ll bring in a CDM on loan who could challenge Romeu for his place this season and be an option to buy next summer. But won’t be a disaster if we have no more incomings at this stage. Think it might actually be an interesting deadline day for once but not expecting much with us.
There are lots of last minute signings being made by our rivals. It remains to be seen to what extent they a strengthening signings or panic ones
I wonder if we will get a centre mid in. I’ve mentioned him before but there was lots of talk of Tchouameni having to be sold this summer as Monaco, and more generally the French league, being skint. He was initially being touted to the top teams but hasn’t gone anywhere so in ultra fantasy fm style I am hoping we get him I’d be slightly surprised if we didn’t sign someone for the CM position though, most likely a loan
Because they are represented by an agent who is the “pet agent” for a specific club I don’t think that actually applies in any of these cases but don’t think the wolves and mendes thing should be allowed. There is definitely something dodgy going on where they get the players at below rate for fees and wages so they can get premier league football and sold for big profits that mendes gets healthy slices of
I'm pretty sure Salisu is Vestergaard's replacement, so we only needed to replace Salisu's squad place from last season. We didn't need to spend big on a someone who would go straight into the 11. Regardless of what we've earned through sales, the club probably didn't see the need to spend a big chunk of our budget on someone who is likely to be a squad player this season. Might even mean we have money to spend in January if needed. Could we have signed someone 'better' (more expensive)? Probably. Can we afford to? Probably not. Lyanco might turn out a really decent signing. Every signing is a risk, but our best signings tend to be the ones we don't pay big for.
Today - Transfer Deadline Day - must be the ultimate Nirvana for Talk Sport. Their entire existence is predicated on gossip and rumours about players and teams, so any half-baked story about someone possibly being interested in moving to a club is given the full multi-correspondent treatment. Apparently, there is a possibility that Christiano Ronaldo may go to Man U, so they probably have reporters stationed (virtually) at Juventus's home ground, Turin airport, Manchester airport, Old Trafford and the Alderley Edge branch of Purple Bricks, all of which will interview each other, in an attempt to build some form of excitement about a non-story. The denouement will be an interview with Harry Redknapp, probably through a half-opened window of his car. Still, it keeps me amused, I suppose...
I know he had a bit of a crap time at Swansea, but Wolves apparently interested in Renato Sanches. Now that, I would really like us to be looking at.
This is going to be a busy day for those of you who love to re-post every rumour and speculation. If that is your bag then good for you but this is the Saints Transfer Rumours thread. Please keep to Saints related post, and post non-Saints rumours, speculation and other pointless bollocks on the PL thread.
No chance as he is Portuguese and I assume a mendes client. They basically get subsidised deals for them
