Does anybody know if they're with their international squads or back at base training with the lads? I've got a ticket to the Accrington game for my first home game in ages, and I'm buzzing to see them both. Think its more likely they play if they've been in training with the lads during the break.
The fact they've been on Wearside to do medicals/interviews etc would suggest they are staying on Wearside - not sure on the current rules between UK and Germany but it would be a right **** on to travel Germany-Uk-Germany-Uk in the space of a few days
Playing Internationals, just as the season has started is poor ... ... playing Internationals, the day after the end of a transfer window is ridiculous.
Playing these games in the middle of a global pandemic is beyond ridiculous. other than financial gain to the footballing authorities I can't see any sense in playing these games in mid season. every club who send players away must have the prayer mat out.
They are staying in sunderland and training in preparation for the Accrington game as I understand it
At least most of our division are affected, therefore we won't be playing catch-up for the next 6 months
Bit of a lost weekend though, as far as I'm concerned but then again I'm not part of the gravy train.
The latest What The Falk podcast is a great listen, discussing these guys if anyone is interested. Both sound incredibly promising
FC Bayern have extended Ron-Thorben Hoffmann’s contract until 2023, with the goalkeeper spending the rest of the season in England on loan at Sunderland AFC. Meanwhile, Union Berlin have exercised their purchase option on Leon Dakaju. The 20-year-old moved to Bayern’s Bundesliga rivals from the capital on loan last summer. Hoffmann came to the German record champions as an U17 in 2015, while Dajaku joined Bayern in 2019. https://fcbayern.com/en/amp/news/2021/08/transfer-update
Exactly. Xhemajli went away to play for Kosovo, having recently signed for us, and never kicked another ball all season.
See this is why the “option to sign” doesn’t make sense. Why increase his contract now to loan him then sell him?
I guess if we don't get promoted and don't end up having to sign him it gives them time to try again elsewhere and get a decent fee.
But the other lad has just signed this year for Bertha too? Why do that then stick a clause on the loan? Too tired to think about it! Maybe a sleep would sort my head out
'tis a strange one, as above ( @Nacho ) i think in the case of the keeper they are making sure they cover their options, dajaku is stranger as the club he was on loan at appeared not to want to exercise the option to buy until we came in for the loan for this season, then they activated the option...obviously they must feel we have a good chance of promotion in which case if we activate our option to buy, they both get a tidy little profit. should we decide not to buy them then i reckon dajaku will get another contract option from union.
