If you are concerned that the Allams are charging interest, you will soon get fed up of any new owner. Any money used to purchase the club will probably be converted into a loan. This means that instead of the debt being reduced it may well increase. Same with any investment in players. Players may well be sold just to pay the loan off. It has to be remembered that this is investment and investments need to make a return, that is the objective of every investment. Dividends management fee’s and loan interest are part of what interests investors.
As the current debt is £42m and the purchase price will be far less, the debt is likely to reduce significantly when the club is eventually sold, at least in the short term. What the new owner decides to spend on the squad remains to be seen, but it’s likely he’s going to want to improve his investment, rather than weaken it. And there’s probably never been a cheaper time to do that, whether he ends up increasing the debt while he does it remains to be seen, but it’s likely to be a long term issue if it happens.
Slutsky couldn't have tried harder to jell with the city. Remember him at Hull Fair? So I hope Acun doesn't hope to emulate him. I hear there won't be a fair this year. Is that right?
Maybe I'm naive, but I do believe they want to sell. They ****ed it up (a sale) in the PL days and since then their asking price has been unrealistically too high (how do I know? because the club hasn't been sold). It sounds like they are now more realistic about the price, and something has changed? But, still, you pose a fair, troubling point / question
I respect Slutsky a lot for trying to soak up as much of the local culture and traditions in his short time here. Unfortunately, English football isn't for everyone and a lot of foreign managers (and players) struggle with adapting to the physicality of the English game. I wouldn't even call him a bad manager as his record in Russia is pretty ****ing impressive. It's not like we plucked him from a Russian third division team; he won multiple titles and domestic cups in the Russian top-tier and got CSKA Moscow to the knock-out stages of the Champions League. A better manager than McCann and also had the humility to put his hands up and say 'this isn't for me, I know when I'm out of my depth' and left the club by mutual consent.
1050 pages, almost 21,000 posts, and still no new owners. I'm beginning to think the Allams don't want to sell!
