Still gets a frown from me Stuttering runs deserve to be saved (or, better yet, hit the post) just because of how gitlike they are
Glad we’re through and happy Bryan wasn’t the one to fluff our pen, actually took a silky one too, I thought between him, Skipp and Tanganga tonight they all shared MOTM.
Good performance in the pens in the end, Gollini could have done better with his first but it’s hard to be too critical of a keeper in a shootout. Højbjerg is someone who I always feel should be better at pens than he is. Props to Gil and Reggie for stepping up with two belters as well. A mostly good first half then, and a poor second. Where have we heard that before?
A lower league team playing defensively will limit a teams attempts but will also create very little. We average 9 attempts v prem teams this season but have conceded an average 18 attempts. It's a serious issue that needs dealing with
Re their second goal, you can debate whether it was a foul or not. Personally I cried foul the instant it happened. Anyway that's not my point. The point is that there is no way in hell that if a Citeh, United or Pool player had been dispossessed in that manner that it would not have been given as a foul. And then forgotten about. I actually think it's these more subtle incidents that show officials prejudices more than the overt ones that directly give or deny a goal. It's these subtle things that go for these teams and not for others that decide matches. And that decision nearly decided ours. A decision that if it had been one of those teams defending and a foul was given nobody would have said a thing.
And the worst thing is we’ve literally got one of the best blokes in the business to slot chances away if we got it to him more.
One thing tonight demonstrated was the difference between graft and FRAAB Gil, Tanganga and Skipp grafted for as long as they were on the pitch, with maybe one or two others getting partial credit Dele and Ndombele, on the other hand, fahkin' ran around a bit and it certainly showed when our midfield was needed to put their foot on the game and didn't In other words, expect a few more Nahitian Nandez stories to rotate through Spurs Web/Hotspur Related for the rest of the week
That was a real mixed bag of a performance from a weird team set up...but we're through. Currently, we can't look beyond the next game. Nothing's settled, not even how we set up on the pitch. There are 3 or 4 players who are a given...after that, **** knows? This means very little, as Wolves are really bad and we scraped the result in the end, so, I've no more confidence for the NLD than before kick off. Oh well....a win is a win....even if was actually a draw.
