Don Corleone left because I wouldn't shut up about Brexit a couple of years ago. Royston left because he owes Elfs some money. Not sure about several others. Some left before my time I believe...
It seems that TS is getting quite a lot of online abuse, which is incredible. I don't come across it myself, but posters on Dick's forum do, and it's embarrassing. It gives us a bad name, like those who used to phone 606 to complain that Curbs had "Taken us as far as he can".
It really does confuse me why Sandgaard is getting all this vitriol. He has put a lot of money in and has backed Adkins in the transfer market. Some of the tweets I saw on Twitter were disgusting and totally lacking respect. There seems to be a small minority who are going out of their way to stir the pot. Dodger Reams and his lapdog Royston. Why they are doing it I have no idea.
The only reason I wouldn’t want this would be if things still didn’t pick up Curbs might get the same abuse as TS and NA are receiving from the moronic percentage of our fan base
Yeah. I think he's been out of the game too long to be manager but his knowlege would be an asset - its a shame to waste it on CAFCTV.
Of course Curbishley would get the same abuse if things didn't go right. And more to the point, all the evidence indicates Curbs doesn't want any post at the Club which has influence over the football. Has never wanted it, even before the current crisis. It would just mean him being morally blackmailed or otherwise coerced into taking the manager's job again at some point. If any Charlton fan thinks strong-arming Curbs into the hot seat against his will is going to work out well, they need to have their head examined.
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/charlton-thomas-sandgaard-exclusive-interview-b959028.html Some select quotes: Charlton owner Thomas Sandgaard has admitted their League One promotion hopes already look “rough” but says his bold vision for the club remains unchanged. “It’s going to be rough to get promoted this year with this start but we’re going to give our all, obviously, to get there,” Sandgaard told Standard Sport. "It’s still an option. "Last season we saw how even the entire League was. Getting into it, my perception was there were a few very serious contenders who were big clubs, including Charlton. What we saw last season is any team can beat any other team in the League. It’s surprised me.” One of the things Sandgaard wants to change is the pervasive influence of agents in the transfer market and he says Charlton now have a recruitment structure in place to be more efficient at signing players. "There’s some very specific agents we’re simply going to avoid even if it means we’re not going to get a player in future. Because they’re worse than vultures," he said. "The team’s got all the raw materials now," he added. "With that, he [Adkins] should be able to get results. Naturally it’s been difficult because it’s the first year and they’re not used to playing together."
Thomas will be happy to see Brentford and Charlton mentioned together Would Ronaldo care to invest a few million now with TS, and attract some Brazilian stars of the future to SE7?
Seems CL is following Old Reamsy now too, telling TS to "grow a pair" and sack NA. But how must TS be feeling, after all the time and money he's been putting into the club, putting us on what he thought was a sustainable footing? He admits himself this league is tougher than he thought, and now he sees his PLan A falling to pieces he needs to find a Plan B which will work. I don't see Curbs coming back to work for the club, but he is available for an in-depth analysis of our situation, and no-one is better placed to give TS the right sort of advice on running the football side of the club. I'm sure he would give his time for a lengthy chat with our owner, and I hope TS speaks to him in confidence.
