Time to move on and to another "free hit" game. Although we do have quite a good record at Stamford Bridge and this game will suit our style more than the Wolves game so a positive result can't be ruled out. In fact Ralph is yet to lose there (W1 D2). Lawro will have us down to lose 3-0 so all good there. A decent referee would help (announced tomorrow). At least the opposition won't spend half the match time wasting. I'm going to this so Saints better put in a decent performance!
Yes I didn't like to mention that. Although he will be my captain in my fantasy team so it would soften the blow should he destroy us.
Just want this one to be over, can only see a loss. Do we have any youth AM’s we can play? Elyonoussi Djenepo Walcott Redmond etc really don’t offer anything.
We may well lose but I think it will be a much better game than the Wolves one. Chelsea will obviously come at us so we will get our opportunities.
If we get pumped in this game it would be easy to start panicking and I've no doubt a fair amount of the fan base will be, but that's just because of where this game falls on our tough start (and the fact we didn't get anything against Wolves). Realistically this is a free hit despite our position and lack of win, and if we do get soundly beaten we won't be the only team that gets tonked by Chelsea this year! Unless we get 9-0'd again, I always prefer these games to the ones we 'should win' because we are expected to lose and so anything we can get, even if its a battling performance where we narrowly lose feels like a positive. Not to mention that we tend to perform better in these sorts of games and even if we don't, meh it was a free hit anyway. That being said, we'll get out first win of the season here, 1-2. Livramento and Armstrong to score. COYR
Don't think we'll get proper battered (4/5+) as that's not really this Chelsea team's style. Free hit but not a complete lost cause. Though I can't see Lukaku not bursting through our defence as if it wasn't there at least once..
Hopefully we repeat our performance against City because if we play like we did at the weekend we will get battered! I just want to get this one over with and get to the international break. Then hopefully Stu Armstrong will be back and we can kick start our season with a relatively easy run of fixtures against Leeds, Burnley, Watford, Villa and Norwich. Need at least 2/3 wins out of that lot if we want anything other than another relegation scrap.
We were more than resolute, sharper up front and we would have had the win. Hopefully that will come big ask against Chelsea though.
