Whilst I have five minutes Bath is the place for my betting today - 1:55 - I don't like betting in nurseries but I also don't like missing a race where horses have good course form. Bluebell Way and Therehegoes both have course form, with the former coming out slightly the better in terms of what they have achieved. They met here on the 12th September when Bluebell Way finished in second behind an impressive winner who made all. That day Bluebell Way was drawn in stall 1 and didn't manage to get away as well as they would have liked, he was held up behind Therehegoes (who had the perfect position on the rail) and couldn't get out to chase the leader until too late in the race. He then ran a very similar race over C&D last time out, being stuck behind horses on the rail before finishing well. He again showed that he is well enough handicapped for a nursery here, and I think today he has the perfect opportunity to go one better. He is drawn wider than ideal, but hopefully that means he won't have the same traffic issues in the run. 2:30 - This race revolves around Ruby Cottage who is becoming a course favourite, but I do think that Red Alert showed plenty in their meeting over course and distance a fortnight ago. That day the ground had cut up slightly and they shunned the inside rail, with Ruby Cottage helping force the pace and kicking from the front to win nicely. Today however looks to be a race that is likely to be run at a faster pace, with more pace angles and that should suit the style of Red Alert. He is a course winner and I think we have seen enough in his form to suggest that the 12/1 available is generous enough. 5:25 - Super Superjack is the one here, with a return to Bath being a key indicator! He has had a very good year at the course and a return to that form will see him go close here. He comes from a yard in great form, he has the course and ground form and I think the extra distance should also suit. Bird For Life might be an intriguing runner staying on late in the day. 5:55 - Plansina is the selection. She has loads of course runs with two wins from seven attempts, and what impresses me about this horse in context of this race is its consistency. 9/1 is available which looks very fair. 1:55 Bluebell Way @ 13/2 2:30 Red Alert @ 12/1 5:25 Super Superjack @ 10/3 5:55 Plansina @ 9/1
17:05 Wetherby - Takeit Easy (Has a decent chance in this 2m Hurdle on the prevailing good ground. Hopefully will run well if fully tuned-up after 120-day break..Conditional Paul O'Brien on board for the Pam Sly yard. Best price 9/2 at time of writing.)
Jordan Williams needs to learn from that ride on Red Alert. Winner of the first comes from wider on the course, then when drawn 8 he gets across towards the rail (which is usually profitable) and got stuck behind a wall of horses and never managed to get involved because of it. They will be frustrated with that, as am I!
Brilliant tipping on the thread today and special thanks to Nass who banged in 5 winners out of 7 in 2 days
