Agree with all of the above UP, that said given the success the club has enjoyed on the pitch with the associated huge increase in revenue, look where we are now, pretty much the same place, albeit a pandemic has affected the clubs current position, both on and off the pitch. They have created a more sustainable club whilst enduring a difficult economic climate, but their legacy is shot to pieces!
A golden opportunity, perhaps a once in a lifetime opportunity has been allowed to slip through our fingers. Not a single brick has been laid as a legacy to our time in the Premier League. Likewise the Needler dynasty, for all that families investment and work at Hull City over a considerable number of years they too never left any legacy.
The Sport Village plan was a load of bollocks, it would never have happened, it was nothing more than an attempt to get the stadium for nothing.
So you keep telling us. The deal on the table was similar to the deal Manchester City managed to pull off with their local council. Leeds U have a similar one. A deal is a deal. HCC didn't even want to listen to it even though they had no plans or cash of their own. The Allam deal could have pulled in grants and funding from all over the place ( Like Man City did) But as Geraghty laughed at Assem Allam we will never know. We do know though, that nothing has happened to the stadium or the surrounding land since.
I'd really been hoping, even expecting, something concrete to develop / be announced during this international break. I'd hoped the week long 'stock take' and the return of 2 loanees (playing for the u23's) were signs. But nope, nothing. Surely someone is hearing something .... or else it's just bollocks yet again?
It's not bollocks. Turkish businessmen do business at their own pace. I don't for one moment think the Allams are easy to deal with either. But it's not bollocks.
The stage it's currently at you pretty much won't hear anything new untill it's announced that its gone through or failed. I know everyone wants instant and constant updates but at this point of the process it just isn't going to happen.
It's not bollocks FFS, just because we don't hear something new every day doesn't mean nothing's happening.
If they're doing due diligence that can take months and it's commercially sensitive so it is done quietly. Or it could all be bollocks again.
No need for the "FFS" Syd. Nobody (with intelligence) expects "something new every day". The reality is that very little, in fact next to nothing, has been said by anyone involved (directly or indirectly). Surely someone has some info?! And yes, the questions / comments are mainly bourne out of hope and frustration!
I guess apart from the person in question giving a direct interview saying he wants to buy the club and what he'd want to do with it? What are you after, him speaking to the media detailing the bidding process?
I put a comment on a little while ago suggesting the reason for the quiet may have been down to the potential new owners doing their due diligence, I'm not ITK, but it would make sense. Can I take it I'm not far off then ?
Don't be silly Syd. The interest has been going on for the best part of a year. Unless I've missed something, pretty much all we've had is a 2nd hand translation from Turkish media of an interview a while back (and it hardly went into any detail about "what he'd want to do with it", beyond high level sound bites and wanting to fly the Turkish flag stuff). I'm not suggesting it's bollocks. Personally I do think things are happening. But it seems unusual for it to be so quiet, for so long, and for no one to have credible info to share. As said, the post was mostly bourne out of hope and 'frustration'.
With respect I have no idea what you're on about. Takeovers are quite often and regularly quiet for large periods while work is done behind the scenes with no news until a takeover is imminent. The Newcastle takeover was silent for over a year until it suddenly popped back up. Takeovers are rarely if ever played out through the media and in public, with any information gleaned second hand through 'ITK' sources, as we've had on this board in two different posters who have been quite diligent in providing all that they know. It seems plenty are desperate for it to be yet another false dawn and at every turn are looking for evidence that it was 'all bollocks' all along, which is what prompted my 'FFS' as it's incredibly tiring to read.
I think you have to take into consideration two factors..... there are more clubs than Hull City for sale and seemingly, just maybe, more than one ;potential purchaser...
