I am too but after a great start he's been nothing short of anonymous lately. Frustrating because he's got all the talent, two footed too, but just doesn't impose himself enough.
We've got Cirkin, Hume and Huggins who can all play there. Should we have signed 6 or 7 left backs just incase this happened?
Irrespective of what the fan base think LJ will make up his own mind about the players he selects and the formations he plays - that is down to him and he stands or falls by those decisions . We all have our own thoughts and ideas and in a lot of cases they differ from the gaffer . I realise that injuries have impacted on the side but I think that we have to go back to basics , why change Winchester when he has been so settled at right full back , at left back due to injuries I would suggest O’Nien is the best suited . The rest of the midfield and forwards have not suffered injuries so let’s have a level of trust in the players who started the season and if necessary have replacements on the bench if it is not working . Ultimately LJ is responsible to get us back to leading the division , if he doesn’t he is failing and this failure will ultimately lead to him needing to be replaced. Hopefully it does not come to this but this is the ultimate price but this is the standards we MUST set - FAILURE is not acceptable for the resources he has available to him .
And, just like last season, so we end up screwed with round pegs in square holes. Do we even look at bringing in a free agent to bridge the gap?
Iirc a bit like Watmore last injury, Hume's latest setback was the the result of a GBH tackle. So yes injured and perhaps unlucky...
Thought it worth revisiting this thread agaim, in contrast to the LJ one. Rightly the coach is under scrutiny after losing 6-0. The squad should be too. Even if you think the formation is wrong and the coach is clueless, you are the ones on the pitch being embarassed by another 11 players. It seemed most agreed we had a good squad but arguably short of being top 2. Have we solved it in Jan? Batth is the type of signing I wanted so that is an improvement. I am not writing him off after yesterday. We are still lacking at full backs and havent really sorted that. I am not convinced Hume is for the here and now, hope I am wrong. We still havent sorted the centre midfield weaknesses. We havent sorted the backup / alternative to Stewart either. We have signed another couple of wide men, but both have much to prove. They have the reputation but not yet the CV. So coming to the end of Jan I still am not convinced we have a top 2 squad. I just feel there are gaps that make us vulnerable. We of course shouldnt be losing 6-0 with these players either. If the club do one thing in the next 24 hours they must get in a centre mid who will hold the side together when we dont have the ball. It is much more important than sacking Johnson, they can do that on Tuesday if they want to. I honestly think any coach is going to need that gap plugging to stand a chance. And I dont mean this buy low sell high approach the club have. I am all for young players with future sell on, but right now the club need to look what is in front of their nose and get an experienced player in there who earns the big money but gives is a shot. Wigan got Shinnie, we need something similar from our owner.
