It always looked likely that Truss would be a disappointment.

She hasn't disappointed.

 

This is the most extraordinary start to a new government I can remember.

 

Totally inept.

 

Truss has to take responsibility. Predictions are that she will be gone by November. Thereafter, the Tories cannot afford a long leadership battle. Better to put Sunak in, since his prudent approach and aversion to borrowing to reduce taxes is proving to be vindicated.

No mending the roads, no public building, less money for council services, less money in social care, less money in NHS, less money in levelling up.

We are committed to defence spending.

Irrelevant. The government’s own economic analysis shows the damage Brexit has done and will do. They can’t credibly shout about growth while continuing to pursue it.

 

A welcome u-turn on the 45p tax rate for the wealthy. Lost count of the amount of u-turns in the last 2 or 3 years, its hard to keep up. It really doesn't inspire any confidence in their ability to run the country, but hey, it made some people wealthier from its announcement, makes one wonder whether that's what it was all about in the first place.

 

Listening to Kamikwasi, he really comes across as a simple person, elevated into such a high powered position.
