Are any England supporters really disappointed ? For me he does not want to tarnish his career with another failure so this is a good excuse for him to get out. As an international manager surely you would never leave before a major championship, it's the peak of you career, unless you were worried about performance or didn't careless.
Harold Red Knapper moves into play ... Done so my the great white wizard Terry is binned and Scott Parker leads the Mason's eleven into the next Battle Royale Allez Les Bleus
it would surprise me to see HR get the job, but he is under contract to Spuds so maybe HR will get a joint role. Brendan Rogers has impressed at Swansea, a young English manager...maybe someone that could get involved with the England set up under HR. If we had a honourable captain, maybe leave it to them - OR maybe someone like Carragher or Scholes or even that prize tit sorry twitter Barton. Pearce would be a good shout as he would demand that the team wear the shirt with pride. All I can say is with a £6 mill a year contract, Capello has not exactly set the world alight...............and in my opinion, hasn't earnt hat type of deal. Mourniho, Cappello, HR, poss Wenger Anal VB....now we se a managerial merrygoround
If the FA had had the balls, the Anton terry incident would have been dealt with immedaitely rather than let it drag on. If England do badly a the summer event, then they will say it was due to the change of manager, and if we do well they will claim a moral victory. Shame some of the top brass dont leave as well........
Brendan Rodgers is from County Armagh as far as I know Think he would need a few more seasons to establish respect from the multi-millionaires before they would play for him
Something to be said for that. You can imagine the team talk: "Ey 'up. Forget all those silky skills you see from Johnny Foriegner, I want you to pump the ball up to Rob Hulse here at every opportunity and he will hold it up for Wayne once he catches up from giving cover in our half. Now I know that playing 4-5-1 is not what you're used to here but my new captain Joey here assures me it can work and if anyone disagrees he will likely give you a Glasgow kiss so you had better knuckle down. Now just to let you know that three players at random will be subtituted with Biffo the Bear, Pocahontus and a circus clown around the 70 minute mark. You don't need to understand this tactic but I'm confident that it will confuse the Faeroe Island players long enough for us to sneak a late equalizer."
"Make It Warnock I know I'm going to get absolutely slaughtered for this but I actually think the FA could do a lot worse than giving Neil Warnock a shot at the job at least for the Euros. The guy is of a similar mould to 'Arry. I'd describe them as 'common sense' managers. They have similar managerial records (pre Spurs in 'Arry's case). Warnock is currently unemployed thus saving on a huge pay-out and could probably be tempted into taking over, until after the Euros at least, for a lot less than the premium the FA would have to pay to get 'Arry right now. I realise a lot of people hate him but...*whispers* I actually quite like him. People hate him for having a lot of the same character traits that arguably play/ed a major part in the success of the likes of Brian Clough and Sir Alex (whom I am worhipful of) ie a complete sense of myopia reguarding their teams and a blind eye towards hypocrisy when they deem it necessary. I realise Neil Warnock cannot be compared to either in terms of success but it's hypocrisy on our parts not to acknowledge this. I have no doubts about his ability to handle the pressure given his character. He won't over-complicate things, which could well be part of the problem with England. Schteve is well known to be big on detail as is Fabio and neither managed to make it count in the big games. Sven, on the other hand, wasn't a complicator and he was our most successful manager since Alf Ramsey! The reason not to take him is by and large his lack of experience at the top end of the table but again, 'Arry had very little pre Spurs and arguably still doesn't have a great deal now. How much does this really matter anyway? Gary Speed had NO managerial experience prior to taking over Wales and did a sensational job. In terms of trophies, 'Arry has one to Warnock's none and that was against Cardiff in the final. I don't believe we should hire an Englishman for the sake of it but right now, I don't think Warnock could cock it up any worse than Fabio did at the last WC. He'd be cheap and willing to take a contract only until the end of the Euros and compared to other similar options such as Alan Curbishley, he is simply a better manager. And who knows, if he did well, we might suddenly have an unlikely hero on our hands! Tom (He feels right to me in a Moneyball kind of way) Chappell, MUFC, Tooting" http://www.football365.com/mailbox/7498588/Mailbox
Harry for manager and a major kick up the backside for the old guard. Team Joe Hart Micah Richards, Michael Dawson (if fit), Gary Cahill, Kyle Walker Aaron Lennon, Steven Gerrard (C) Scott Parker, Ashley Young Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck Bring on the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Adam Johnson too and if you need to bulk up the midfield the likes of Gareth Barry or James Milner can be brought in. No room for Fat Frank, Racist Terry, Rio, Cashley Cole, Michael Owen, Dead Knee King etc. Hit Johnny Foreigner with a good old fashioned 4-4-2 but use Harry's nous as a coach and be prepared to drop Parker behind the midfield as a sweeper or push Gerrard in the middle behind the two front men or leave Welbeck/Sturridge as lone strikers and Rooney can play off the front man. Who else would you include or drop?
I'd have some of that good starting 11, Grove have you got any holidays left? theres a spare seat on the plane
