Does anyone else want us to go for Dale Jennings of Tranmere. I think he can be every bit the prospect that Chamberlain is and he's only very young. Last I heard Bayern Munich were after him though.
Had him on football manager, bought him in the 1st season and hes been quality ..... but of course this is real life but yeh.
Are you sure... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axnY3auosDU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhkwssHa69k&feature=related
Doubt we'll be able to sign him. Would be a good signing though. I'm sure Adkins has something up his sleeve though. I mean, who was talking about Guly last summer.
More than a touch of dodgy defending in there to be fair. Not that he isn't a good player. I would expect him to find his way to a Prem/top Champ side soon enough.
he would be a good signing, but will he sit on the bench? If Chambo stays, I would play him everyday instead of Jennings, and I think Lallana does so much damage when he plays wide left that he'd only be cover for that.
Fair enough. I did only say he can be the prospect Alex is. I wasn't suggesting he was better than him just that he is just as promising. I think if we signed him it would be like making 2 signings as he can also play up front and has pace. Also he could take up the left wing role and let Lallana go up top and dictate things alongside Lambert although in fairness I'm not sure Adam is quite ready for that yet. But he will be.
Lallana is never going to be a centre forward and I don't know any players that dictate a game from the centre forward position. Looking at the best players around right now, Messi, Ronaldo & Rooney all play in a similar way to Lallana, by favouring one side, but mostly picking the ball up in midfield or being on the end of things as moves progress.
I didn't mean that he would be a striker, just sitting in "the hole" in a free role allowing you to have 2 wingers and still keep a shape. I totally agree about the Messi, Ronaldo and to certain point Rooney comment. The one thing all the best players in the world have in common, be in the past with the likes of Best, Pele, Cruyff, through to Bergkamp, Cantona and of course Matt Le Tissier, is that nobody really knows what position they actually really play. They just are. They just play. No restraints. Some players dont need telling what to do or need a system to bring the best out of them. At this level I feel Lallana can be one of those.
Lallana would be capable of doing that now having developed considerably since Poortvliet put him there. We'd then have to drop the second striker and find a second winger. Nothing wrong with that, but it would require a bit of fddling about. Wingers to fit that sort of style are hard to find at this level or in English players generally. Lots of quick strikers get moved out wide to whom the flair, decision making and ball playing ability required for that position don't come naturally. AOC is quite a rarity in that he is a natural winger and a darn good one.
