I have no doubt you are right that our first 11 cost more than barcelonas. This is because while Barcelona are very good bringing youth prospects through they are equally as bad in the transfer market.
He cant be because those sums are way to low. I mean seriously low for Real Madrid. Barcelonas maybe but whether they are correct or not I do not know. They dont look right, especially saying they spent nothing one season. Stretty can you post your source?
No at this point I am purely going off barca. Sorry my internet explorer was running slow so could respond. Anyway yes barca's management in the last decade have been awful with transfers. Seriously if you look back at some of the names you will cry with laughter. Fabio rochemback being a prime example. I am merely using wiki atm and using the individual sources for each transfer. They seem to be pretty accurate and in the latter years match what utd in red said. Although barca have this habit of including add ons to every transfer, so I just used the max value of what they could cost. As for the summer barca spent nothing, I think it was 06. They bought in two players, one was mark van bommel, who they made an 8 million profit on a year later. And another was a striker ezqera? Who failed horribly I think it was him anyway. These were the only two players they bought in that summer anyway. Will do reals shortly.
Since the 00/01 season they have spent 383 460 000 million euro Stretty. https://spreadsheets.google.com/spr...FLwxa9txdFJpcS1pWXVPRTNTdWpkcUVXck9PTGc&gid=3 Something for you to look over. Also remember barcelona are a self inflicted circa £400million in debt aswell.
Read the spread sheet. It lists all Barcelonas deals going back to 73 lol. To get where they are Barcelona have inflicted massive debts on themselves. Debts that have come about despite being given more TV money than all but 1 club and by raking in one of the highest amounts of competition money in the last 5 years. It says alot about how big a shambles Spanish football is in behind the scenes dont you think.
Not really. Clubs in england are also in huge debt. Infact isnt our countries footballing debt worse than the whole of europe put together? Waffle on about our debt not being self inflicted, but at the same time it still restricts us.
Actually the original stats were from Marca, I just can't find that link. The breakdown is here: http://www.theoffside.com/leagues/s...d-spent-a-billion-euros-on-transfer-fees.html Re: the Barcelona fees, I don't think Barca will particularly help your argument. Everyone admits Barca is far and away the best club in the world. But if you took Barca out of La Liga, there is precious little quality left. Real have spent vast amounts more than Chelsea, who are their nearest comparator in the PL, but since the CL win in 2002 they have very little to show for it. And below that level La Liga has practically no great sides - Valencia went out of the CL to Schalke and Sevilla didn't even make the group stages. United didn't dominate Valencia in the group stages, but we got the results we needed to top the group, and when it really mattered in the knock out stages Valencia were found horribly wanting.
