Who else would have come in and kept us up? The players needed an arse kicking or we would already be in the championship.
Yep,did you see anything under oneil to suggest otherwise because I didn't we were poor and going down
Not really mate , but we are still in the prem aren't we and oneil had 30 odd games and dicanio has had 5
MoN could just as easily scraped over the line last may just as PDC did. Let's face facts, PDC did not ignite the squad or have any kind of feel good factor honeymoon period. In fact, especially in the Villa game, we were tonked off an equally ****e team by 6 goals. MoN is 10 times the manager PDC ever will be but you know what, if he had kept us up, there would be an equal clamour for his head after these last 5 results and performances. PDC is way out of his depth and it's embarrassing to hear his macho big man talk when he is serving up this **** for the last 5 games. Despite a free hand and plenty of boardroom support over the summer, despite 14 new faces, and despite supposedly working 20 hours a day, we have gone backwards IMO and serving up some of the biggest dross for decades. It can't be allowed to just drift on.
You cant count PDC's games from last season in my opinion, in reality hes only had pre-season and 5 games witht he new DOF set up etc. Having said that something must have happened in the dressing room and if hes lost the majority of it then there was no other decision to make. It may look bad from the outside but I believe something has certainly prompted Short to sack him other than the first 5 results.
It's like asking the question "should I have gone all in there" after you've seen the flop, turn and river - only way you can EVER know is to suck it and see I think there was much more than football at stake here as Danny says - his demeanour constantly slating players to the press will sap confidence out of the players when they need their gaffer to be instilling them with confidence. I think something happened behind the scenes to make this happen and what happened on the field just compounded it Not sure ACS - Celutska, Diakite, Giaccherini and Altidore all look capable (Even Cabral did for one game) so there's 5 players I think will be capable at Premier League level - the rest have hardly played anyway and most of them are youngsters for the development squad (Looking capable and being capable are 2 completely different things however
Good question, one which has to be answered. Why sign someone you're not even going to give 15 games? What kind of vision is that? We knew how temperamental he was when we signed him. Why didn't ellis? Why didn't he Just for RDM first chance save us national embarrassment?
Last season he kept us up! O neill wouldn't have! Thanks Paolo! He may have only just delayed the inevitable though! But lets face it! WE are Sunderland! We are always gonna struggle! No matter who is in charge and which players we get! We should have learnt this by now!
Should never have been anywhere near this club. So many decent managers could have kept us up and I am with Cest here, I actually think MoN would have got us enough points.
Yes he would - Alan Brazil and everyone says so so it must be true I tell ya (I agree - we were down with flames on under O'Neill!!)
