I know but you were trying to correct me on the statue bit smug. I mentioned it being in the high street opposite the cathedral. Broadheath does not have a cathedral. Bell inn is in lower broadheath.
But you didn't mention Worcester did you ...... the only place mentioned had been Broadheath in the post you responded to. "Broadheath with Lower Broadheath is a civil parish officially known as Lower Broadheath, in the Malvern Hills district of Worcestershire, England." https://plus.google.com/118354746575798448594/about?hl=en-GB
We were talking Worcestershire now it's quite obvious Broadheath doesn't have a cathedral, well at least it didn't when I lived there. That's why I was sure the bell was in lower broadheath.
Check the Bell inn website Situated in the heart of lower broadheath Martley Road. That's why I corrected you on the broadheath being lower broadheath.
Fair enough, Google seem to disagree with you but it seems to be a matter of opinion. https://plus.google.com/118354746575798448594/about?hl=en-GB Broadheath Worcestershire WR2 6QG‎ 01905 640220bellinnbroadheath.co.uk Family Restaurant, PubToday 9:00 am – 11:00 pm The Bell Inn at Broadheath, Worcestershire, WR2 6QG is a good food pub for fine dining and can cater for all functions - weddings, christenings, business and family parties - great food, real ales
Is the fcking geography lesson over? Now i do have strange tastes in music, but for some reason, i can listen to stuff like that all day long. It's music where you can just sit and listen, and have a damn good think about things. It's probably the military bands playing as well, can watch them all day long, a bit og pomp and circumstance. Brings back some memories for myself, i was unfortunate enough to have to go to Deal barracks the day after the IRA had bombed the Marines music school, Killing 11 and injuring many more, bandsmen blown to pieces, what a mess.
Who cares man ........ I was jokingly talking about Elgar bashing out songs on the old 'Joanna' for drinkers in the Bell Inn. It never happened!!!! It was just a daft throwaway comment on a throwaway thread. How can you get so wound up that you drag this **** out for 2 days, just listen to yersel. Why do people who move into an area always have to be such 'experts' and so defensive about it? I'm not wrong at all. When Elgar was there the place was called Broadheath therefore my comment about him being in Broadheath was correct. It was later called Lower Broadheath which is why you believe you're right. It's only called that because there are other villages/towns called Broadheath so they made a distinction. But at the time of my comment Elgar was in Broadheath which is why he became 'First Baronet of Broadheath’ not Lower Broadheath. Are you saying Wikipedia have got it wrong as well as Google? "Broadheath with Lower Broadheath is a civil parish officially known as Lower Broadheath, in the Malvern Hills district of Worcestershire, England. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 1,713. The parish also includes Upper Broadheath, which is about 3 miles north-west of Worcester." Durham is in County Durham but it's still Durham.
Look for **** sake I corrected you on the bell inn being in lower broadheath. Not the ****ing history of Elgar. The link you gave me to try and prove me wrong, if you scroll down to links you will find their official website It's clearly states The Bell inn Martley Road Lower Broadheath Worcestershire. It' s quite simple it's a highlighted link you just need to press on that link it's quite easy. Two days? Dragging it out? Ffs what's Wikipedia got to do with this now.
At the time of Elgar, and my comment about him playing the piano in the Bell, it was known as Broadheath. End of story ...... I don't care either way but my comment turned out to be 100% correct. Whatever the place is called now it was Broadheath in the time of Elgar, First Baronet of Broadheath To be clear, are you claiming Broadheath doesn't exist? Or are you saying Elgar is wrong as well and didn't know where he lived "So you have been to Broadheath. I fear you did not find the cottage - it is nearer the clump of Scotch firs - I can smell them now - in the hot sun. Oh! how cruel that I was not there - there's nothing between that infancy & now and I want to see it." (Elgar in a letter to Alice Stuart Wortley)
There's no fight mate just someone who missed the point of the thread to pursue a geographical anomaly to the death. The point of the thread is a beautiful piece of music from a man of relatively humble beginnings.
There are some things we just get right as a country ....... love or hate the pomp, we're world class
You seem to be a very ITK person of all things UK, better than locals who live or have lived in the area. You seem content to correct people. You must know the area I lived in better than myself. The fact of this matter his I stated Elgar statue was in the High Street opposite the cathedral, nowhere did I say it was in Broadheath!! I know it's in Worcester having lived in the County. I then commented that the Bell Inn is in Lower Broadheath not Broadheath. Like I said you seem to have a far superior knowledge to where things are situated than the local habitat.
Get a grip man, you're pontificating yersel into a frenzy. I said Elgar used to knock out a few singalongs, for the regulars in Broadheath, and you said there was a statue in the high street. If you meant it wasn't Broadheath your should've said where you meant, it's basic logic. In any case it doesn't matter whether I'm ITK, Elgar says he's from Broadheath ........ or are you saying he's wrong as well? He actually was a local, you're not. Besides you're missing the point, what I said was a lighthearted joke, not a ****ing geography lecture
But I am a local of the area born and bred along with parents, grandparents and relatives also of that area. I even still have property in the area. Despite living in Cape Town. We have all always known the Bell Inn to be in lower broadheath. Ian runs the inn he will tell you its in lower broadheath. Broadheath is a tiny village quite obvious there's no high street and a cathedral. You keep sending silly Google snippets to prove otherwise and reciting Elgar, for some ****ing strange reason!
You may have always known it as Lower Broadheath but I was talking about Elgar, in the early 1800's, who knew it as Broadheath. It was a throwaway crack about Elgar pounding the keyboards for a few drunks on a Friday night in the Bell. IT WASN'T FACTUAL FFS ....... IT WAS A JOKE I mentioned Broadheath and you replied by saying there's a statue in the high street ....... no mention of Worcester. You don't understand logic do you?
