Just what is going on at your great club? To think back in 1967 you won the European Cup with players who all came from Scotland - who all came within a 30 mile radius of the city if I recall correctly. Furthermore, down the years you have produced wonderful players - Dalglish, McStay and Macari to name but three. I look at Athletic Bilbao's results and tonight they turned over Napoli a team that has spent millions. Bilbao, by comparison relatively little and that is on players from the Basque region or who are Basque by origin. That is a limited pool from which to develop a team. But it seems to work very effectively for them as they look a decent team althought it is doubltful they will win the Champions League. But who knows. What I am suggesting as a way forward is the Athletic blueprint. Scouting, developing and playing the best players from all over Scotland as Athletic do from the Basque region in Spain. It would probably take 10 years to develop but it has to start sometime. Why oh why are you buying such garbage from the likes of Cardiff City and Championship standard players from the English football league beggars belief and is not the way forward for Celtic to begin competing in European tournaments. Would love your views BUOYS!!!!
No set up in Scotland to develop youth and then get them ready through the reserve leagues. It was abolished to cut costs for clubs.
Wonderful and insightful Fabio!! Have you something against Athletic Bilbao, a club that nurtures and develops talent from its own region and has on occasion outplayed the bigger clubs in Europe such as Manchester United? You should be asking what your board are going to do to get your team competing again as many of us south of the border do have a liking for Celtic? My cousins in Luton are Celtic crazy - it's the Irish blood in them!!!!
I actually think your post was a good one and pointed out things we could take on board up here, but it was late at night when I read it and couldn't be bothered with a sensible reply.
It's the usual gay ****e posted by an undercover taig. Probably Beale. Scottish football is ****e because; 1. We have **** weather. 2. We have a fat society. 3. Not as many kids as before. 4. 50 years of zero investment. Spanish society benefits from the weather, and the fact that they've never tasted the delights of a deep-fried bacon, sausage and tootie scone trebler washed down with irn bru. Scottish football needs to reach the bottom before it will get better. Once the top league is competitive again, and won by a team outwith of the Rangers/Celtic duopoly that will be the bottom. Sometime I lie in bed at night and attach clothes pegs to my scrotum.
Thanks Fabio!!! You are forgiven and good luck to your BUOYS in the Europa League and lets hope they exceed expectations by at least getting to the knock-out stages in the New Year!!
I hurt myself as it numbs repressed memories of my childhood brought up at the Nunnery by Fr Stretchflume and Sister Insertion.
Rangers should take a leaf out their book and go back to signing only Proddies, far too many papes in the team and that mysteriously coincided with things going tits up for us.
This is like all the times new ****s would join BBC606 and you would accuse the poor bastards of being chim chim I'm inside your mind and there's no escape Welcome to Newgod's ... I mean er, Beale's Toybox
Football has changed big time in last ten years , we got beat by Basle in qualifying, everybody was behind the club and we ended up in the Uefa cup final . Now not for one minute I am suggesting that's going to happen again but world football changing has killed the game in scotland , 2 million pound players are now our limits thanks to wages but look at the last scotland squad we left out two 12 million strikers , McCormack and Rhodes who neither I believe are good enough for us .Mind you supper Ally wanted Boyd in there !! We've got to keep the faith or our club will go the same way as dead Rangers .
Agreed but we need to make sure we have the right man in charge. I thought ronny was making progress but he took a massive step backwards with his team selection and tactics on Tuesday.
agree but every bad result we can't change the manager , Lennon ' s team that did well in the Champions league had some awful results in europe at first ,Utretch then suddenly found its feet in Rennes , who's to say this team won't do the same ???
Sly dog that you are, created a new Identity and posted 1000 times on other forums before coming on here to wind up the Huns.
