Good old Newsnow! http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2016/sebastien-haller-denies-possible-norwich-move/?
Very old news, but if no "European qualified clubs" come calling, and none seem to be interested, still a last day possibility. From what i have learnt about him he would be an excellent addition.
I know, I dug it up because Bedford wanted to know who mentioned European football, hence this old article
Thanks for clarification. Lets hope the idiots arent out in force if he does end up coming! I for one totally understand why a 21 yr old, with talent, would hold out for European football... even if AN's comments re: playing in the Prem are valid ones. Everyone has their own boxes to tick as he says.
I think some of it may be swagger and bravado, trying to attract a bigger 'fish'? But if it's just us, Villa and Swansea interested, he may just have to cut his cloth accordingly - or stay put
It could well be... it might even be just the agent wanting bigger bucks?! I think he would be a great addition should he come. Nothing wrong with a bit of swagger from a youngster... as long as he is good enough!
Oviedo would certainly interest me, suspect it's just a random tweet though, unless that account has called other moves early. Edit: After a bit of twitter stalking, it appears he's claiming that it'll be in the Liverpool Echo tomorrow, and that's where his source is.
More talk of Bamford on Newsnow. I wouldnt be totally disappointed with him. He did OK for Boro in lone striker role last year! He is tall, fast and can finish. OK he didn't play well against us in the Wembly final... but we aren't in a Wembly final. He also DID score against us in the 4-0 battering we took. Probably better than Grabban too! Only thing i would be annoyed with here is if we pay more than £6-8m for him. No way is he worth £10m! Id rather have taken Afobe for that.
He's not bad at all. Can play defensive midfield and all down the left, including LB. Would be a bit like a Brady LB role, in the way he will bomb forward and get crosses in. He's a better tackler than Brady though, and obviously Olsson. That's not a bad shout actually.
Really I would have thought he would be worth more than Afobe? After last season's Championship performances. Albeit he struggled at Palace, but no shame in that as they are doing pretty well.
Another LB, and a better defender than Oviedo. Fast, and can still get forward. More of a player who we help solid up the back 4. Are we really liked with him? Surely much bigger clubs would be in for him too if available?
I wouldn't be too disheartened to see him in yellow and green. He can certainly sit on the last defender's shoulder and then chase through balls. He wasn't fully fit at Wembley and in all honesty the game was over when we went 2-0 up!!!!
He was excellent against us in the reverse fixture (I think until he got poleaxed by Bassong?) Very quick and a future Harry Kane IMO
Only because of the type of player he is. Imo Afobe fits the bill more. Big, Powerful, quick and an eye for goal. Bamford is tall, strong, quick and has an eye for goal... however i just feel Afobe would be MORE suited to the lone role given his EXTRA strength and hold up play. Still be happy with Bamford... just wouldnt pay £10m imo Edit- Having said that... if he comes and proves me wrong i wouldnt complain and id hold my hands up!
I think with Bamford, He didn't impress at Palace, and so we don't know if he'd do much in the Premiership yet. Also, for a lad who is 6'2, he's really poor in the air and not very strong. I know that wouldn't matter as much if he played along side Mbok and Jerome, but playing at the load striker, I can't see him holding up the ball or winning headers. Will he also just get brushed off the ball by strong defenders. I can see him more as a sub who would come on if we had to go for a game and pushed 2 up top. I'm not sure if he's what we need this season. He's still a prospect, so Wouldn't be totally gutted, especially if all our other targets fail.
Still in for this lad by the looks of it. http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...65085.html#$$o1mgha&&MOQIUsUbEeWsIhKrKhiZOw$$ But looks as though they are not selling.
Surely Bamford would only be a loan signing? I can't see us paying £10mil or indeed Chelsea selling him yet ? I also don't see him fitting into the current setup, he's not strong enough to play a lone striker role at this level imo & we just don't do 4-4-2 these days and if we do revert then surely that's Naismiths position?
