On the radio this morning I heard that Sam will be given a £20 million transfer kitty for January. This is newspaper talk so it's probably bollox. If it is true, how should we spend it. A CB, a LB and a Midfielder should be our priorities. Alonso, if we could get him would be around £5 million. That would leave £15 million. Who could we get to partner JOS or Kaboul. The incoming players MUST be first choice players who would automatically start in their respective positions, not more squad players no better than those we already have.
I would think not. £30 million may get us the three we need. It's probably all ****e but good fun to speculate.
I think if we do get that we will have to thank our lucky stars. The money over the years has mainly been recicled ..?..??.??........
not knocking it as its better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. we just know that other teams will be aware how desperate we are, just hope sam has a few irons in the fire and comes up trumps for us.
£20M, that will be enough. Sign Kevin Nolan & Kevin Davies & big Sam can put the rest in a nice little brown bag for latter!
It's impossible to know what will be enough. I suspect Newcastgle will be spending at least that. No I've not lost my mind either - MA is a gambler but he's not silly, he knows we need to survive and we're doing "only just enough" after investment in the summer. They said Newcastle would have three big windows of investment and I think we will. Why is it relevant to Sunderland? Because I think you will need at least 2-3 new quality faces just to stand still and give yourselves a fighting chance. The amount of money isn't the issue though. M'Villa has been your best acquirement whilst you spent £10m on Rodwell. There'll be a few players like Austin in January who will move onto to a relegation-threatened club for possibly more than they are worth. I wouldn't knock Nolan too much, he's a leader and gives his all and would love to score past the Ashley regime. Too slow for you team I think but you could do worse.
If it was me I'd work on the defence and leave everything else alone. We need to build from the back and we have some decent players going forwards who'd look even better with a better defence.
No I don't think that would work, they're not very good. Also, I would think Allardyce uses a wallet rather than a brown bag. I'd spend the money on a CB and a CM. Ideally a LB too but I think the other positions are higher priority. Alonso can fill in CB and LB too.
Ellis is like a rich mans Rupert.....................and that is not a good thing. Stupid is as stupid does.
We neeed at least two first rate defenders and a first rate addition to the attacking midfield position to stand any chance imo, its hard to say what this will cost, the shopping was only half completed in the summer window when it would have been a lot easier and cheaper. On a personal note I would like to see an end to this January window it is an agents dream and a supporters nightmare.
And there's always some ****er to open the box of choclates, yeah we know that but.. Sitting on your perch now, seeing your team perform miracles in the last 6 years to get where they are now, why are you as a person trying to have a snidy dig at a club 350 miles away? One of our lot twatted you at sometime?
You reckon? I'm just picking up on your posts for the last few years against a club I have supported for 40+ years.. You sound a right fanny by the way.. Just saying like..
20m would be wonderful, I suspect it will be much less than that and will involve moving players on too. We have got to buy 2 CB's and a LB minimum. So thats your 20m gone right away.
