There's actually an image that is nearly identical in the official guidelines, explicitly stating that it's not a handball.

 

I never knew Uruguay were so.popular on this site given the level of vitriol directed towards Portugal.

 

I think it is more like chosing between David Nugent and Paul Merson.

 

It was a draw for me, until Uruguay sneaked it with a late winner of Frey Bentos corned beef and Gaston Ramirez

 

It seemed more that Portugal were highly disliked

The VAR decision to rule out Vinicius' goal will be remembered, but the VAR decision to overrule the offside for Aboubakar's sensational goal against Serbia will be forgotten.

VAR can be painful at times, I'm definitely with you on that. But I still think on the whole it makes the game fairer. That, ultimately, is a step in the right direction. It's just certain rules that need to be tweaked.

 

VAR should only be used to stamp out the clear errors although I do like this new offside technology they're using at the World Cup. Gets rid of the line drawing and doesn't take too long. At the end of the day it's the subjective calls (particularly handball) that are the issues. Referee's shouldn't feel like they have to overturn their original decision just because they've been advised to go to the monitor.

 

It's just so **** in general and makes me dislike the sport so much. I think I'd hate it even if it got everything 'right' (which is impossible).

Completely killed the passion I had for the game and I barely enjoy the actual sport anymore. Says it all that I chose boxing over France/Denmark and Argies/Mexico on Sat night despite it being my favourite form of football.
