Just been thinking about this and now is the time to act in Europe for Cashley! A couple of years ago a 15m (euros) player would have cost almost 15m pounds but with the exchange rate the way it is they would only cost just over £10m! I hadnt really thought of the impact of the exchange rate on the transfers front before! Pretty sure the selling clubs will be wise to it though, which would severly dent my argument!
It's a big difference. I reckon that's why they abandoned the 'look to the UK Market' stance they had earlier. Plus the prices for UK talent are crazy right now.
By the way lads...if anyone is going to Greece this summer... they've just (overnight) jacked up VAT from 13% to 23%.. effectively putting a nail in their tourist industry's coffin.
Im going for two weeks (Had recently changed to Greece as I didnt fancy Tunisia) but its all-inclusive and I was intending on drinking & eating them dry just to cover my proportion of tax that is undoubtedly bail them out!
All-inclusive deals are murder to the local tourist industry, we hand all our money to the tour company and none of it goes to local businesses. Just saying!
Sorry bro, I got a 3 year old daughter and all-inclusive suits ours and her needs. I know people who just pick a city/town, fly out and deal with it when they get there, but I just couldnt do that
I'm not having a go, we went all in to Antalya earlier in the year for part of the holiday. I just came back feeling bad I hadn't gone into town for a meal and drinks at least once in the week.
Its cool bro, I will be heading around and eating out now and again, its cheap enough in greece as it is a small tax increment doesnt bother me, but you were right with what your saying, tourism is only good if your money's coing to the country and not just to the holiday provider
Go to Bulgaria, cheap as chips, 40p a pint, £5 a bottle of vodka, Vodka ( 4x UK Measure O)+ Bottle of coke only £1.20 Toon Tops £16
The tourist industry will be just fine. It'll take a hit, but 'a nail in the coffin' is overestimating the impact. Also you lot are splashing the cash, leaves a lot to live up to.
You sure you have that the right way round? The Euro has got stronger against the Pound over the last 2 years so paying in Euros makes it more expensive and makes your European holiday more expensive as well.
