Impressed by Balding newcomer's debut at Kempton last night. Unfancied at 100/7, Topanga travelled well and came through with a smooth run in the straight to bustle up the favourite. These two finished well clear. Murphy was very patient on him and this should pay off. Well-bred, by Siyouni from the family of Midday and Passage of Time.
Not disgraced in a close up 3rd on part of the track which looked at a disadvantage compared to the rail run
Well she reappeared and won: rewarded with the odds of 5 to 2 on! Ran very well and was always in control but the 2nd this time, Tiaraqueen (28-1), also looked promising. This Haggas Kingman filly (her dam is a full-sister to the very useful Penkenna Princess) travelled well throughout and came away from the rest of the field with the winner. Unfortunately she won't be 28-1 next time out. Two fillies to look out for next year.
They both look like 8f fillies, maybe 10f at a stretch? ; can't see them as Oaks candidates. What do you reckon Bustino?
Update The horse has now left Roger Varian and is now with Dominic Ffrench-Davis who had the horse as a 2 year old in Lambourn
