Ok . Well why watch it then ? I assume you do , because you have just commented on what does not happen after the first corner .
The same to be honest . I have followed it since 1981 , and I long for the good old days , not sure they will happen , but I hope they do .
But what were the good old days? We look back with nostalgia and fond memories of some of the old monster cars that used to race, but in reality there have been relatively few really exciting years where the wheel-to-wheel racing has been brilliant all season.
Yes I know that , but right now , F1 needs to make it's mind up ref the future . On another subject , get rid of these bloody penalties . We could end up where the WDC is decided on penalties . and next year looks like being worse !
Unbelievable Merc power, the drivers and team rep laughing at how easy it was, absolutely frightening. How anyone can suggest that with that advantage they can ever claim to not have the best car is just crazy. Great day for Lewis, job done. Great recovery by Ricc and a decent battle between the slower Merc powered cars. Ferrari better just pray that the engine won't be the main factor over the remaining races.
For me F1 means the start of the summer. That first race in March means that winter is finally over! I also live close to Brands Hatch and was lucky to see F1 live on several occasions. Unfortunately, I think it's lost its way over the last few years and it's now a hard sport to be a spectator.
Hopefully the new owners will turn that around . Then I think of their plans for a 25 race season :-(
Ferrari have the better handling car, Mercedes the peak power. Hungary and Monza clearly showed that, and Belgium they were very evenly matched as the track required a mix of the two. Singapore should be Ferrari territory, likewise Japan. The other races should be less clear cut. I can't think of anymore 'power' circuits where Merc will have such an advantage as today.
For me, the good ole days is when cars could actually get close to each other and a bit of hair-raising blocking was expected and not punished. No, not all races were classics, just like any other sport. But it was more exciting in the past.
Good point. More gravel traps would help with draining the rain as well. With tarmac the rain just sits on top and cant drain away. So on multiple counts gravel traps would be better.
That's quite a good point! Flooding always occurs more when they build houses on flood plains as the water can't drain away.............
Weird season this one. Close title battle, but bugger all championship action on track. There's been plenty of action up and down the field, but the title fight is pretty bloody dull. Surely it's got to get good at some point.
I thought it was good of McLaren to put their drivers in high vis orange race suits today just in case they had to get out the car while on track. They took it a bit far going restricted speed limits though...
Looks like McLaren Renault deal is all but done. Final pieces of the puzzle seems to revolve around Toro Rosso taking a Honda PU, but then interestingly Carlos Sainz. It's either him moving to Renault to replace Palmer, OR moving to McLaren. Which I would suspect would see Alonso wind up at Renault, which would be sad as they're a couple of years away from a competitive chassis. Alonso and Sainz at McLaren would be amazing but would they drop Vandoorne?
Really can't disagree with this. I'm not sure if it's the sport or just getting older. But the cars need a drastic aero change to encourage close racing, open up regs a bit, allow teams to select their own tyres and tyre strategy, remove some of the component change penalties and we might start getting back to where it should be imo. Oh... and ditch the crappy venues.
