It would be a BIG mistake to let Eliasoon go for my money. Any incoming manager should look to find a midfield that can accommodate his ability.
Benik Afobe sends heartwarming message to Bristol City as loan spell reaches a conclusion https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/b...stol-city-as-loan-spell-reaches-a-conclusion/
I'm getting a bad feeling about the future. I hope I'm wrong, but I can see us employing another unproven manager and we'll be lucky not to be in a relegation battle. League 1 beckons - and nobody can blame LJ this time. I really hope I'm wrong - perhaps I'm just feeling down because of the rain and Covid.
Oh, they will mucker, and you and both know it!! If we have a bad season it will be all LJs fault for poor signings, square pegs in round holes, blah, blah, bigoted hatred, blah But, if we do well, it will all be down to the new manager
Just a different point of view but with all of the flack flying about the next Bristol City boss, we had all of the crap about Gerrard, the Cowley brothers, the Swindon bloke ( I don't remember his name), Fowler application, now the Watford threat, there was also Birminghan at the start, even Mark Ashton with his 8 candidates interviews and other contenders, not a sound, not a comment, not a maybe statement coming out of Chris Hughton to fan the flames, silence prevails with him. Class act, immaculate guy, solid personality and mature media NOUS. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/bristol-city-candidate-chris-hughton-4369252
Nothing legitimate has come out from our side as well. Most of what has been reported is hear say. All we’ve apparently said is it’s a rigorous process. If we’ve not been interested in CH maybe he’s asked for x and y and we can’t afford it. But we’ve decided not to say this is the reason. Or maybe talks are still on going and negotiating things between each other. After all, Gerrard even said himself no one has talked and it’s all paper talk. So does that not make us a class act?
Former Bristol City defender calls on Robins to copy Brentford and appoint modern coach Ex-left back also points towards Premier League boss as the man to replicate https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ws/former-bristol-city-defender-calls-4370179
Good points raised by Rob but we've just had 4 years of a modern coach and sacked him, what's the crime in bringing in maturity, expertise and a different vision ?
The thing is that there really isn't a magic formula that always works. Ok some like Warnock you know what you'll get - he raises 'inferior' players to better themselves, but even he has gone off the boil recently. Look at Danny Wilson for example; did brilliantly at Barnsley and his football was attractive, but he hasn't managed to repeat that success anywhere else. Kevin Keegan and Bryan Robson were 'old style' managers but hardly set the world alight. Phil Brown took Hull up - then faded away (I don't even know where he is now). Hollowhead took Blackpool up and is good at managing in the lower leagues but I can't see him taking another team to the Prem. Sean O'Driscoll on paper was a good appointment but it turned out to be terrible - and where is he now? The Lee Johnson gamble might have worked - and in our 5th year of playing Championship football some might say it did work (not criticising the decision to sack him mind) Cardiff took a gamble on Harris and now they are (just) in the playoffs. Brentford took a chance with Frank - it works sometimes but there are NO guarantees. We might sign Hughton and STILL not get promoted - what then? Would Hughton suddenly have become crap? It's the same with players - one that always springs to mind is Nicky Hunt - Bolton fans were complimentary about him when he signed for us - and he played in the Prem - God-awful for us though! There was another big centre forward - Stern John - who scored more than 19 goals for Southampton the previous season when Southampton got relegated - he was absolutely woeful for us and we couldn't wait to get rid of him. I guess what I'm saying is that there are no guarantees. One day we will find the 'magic formula' of that I have no doubt. I just hope i'm still around to enjoy it!

Duo ruled out of running for Bristol City job https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/duo-ruled-out-of-running-for-bristol-city-job/
Were they ever in the running? I seriously hope not, if we sacked LJ for either of these two, then there are things very wrong at the top in our club!!
