Hayden appears to have had a fresh surgery on his knee. Apparently he has been having fluid drained from his knee every three days and only training twice a week to be able to make match day squads in the last month or so - would explain his performances. Don’t know how long this new surgery will put him out for again but it doesn’t sound like he will be returning to Newcastle which is a bit of a surprise to me.
Hayden's statement for what it's worth: Hopefully this sorts things out and he's back fit soon - and actually fit.
Wow, is it really more than four months since the Millwall game? They always say that time speeds up as you get older. BTW, probably the best performance of the season in my opinion.
Currently, we've conceded fewer set piece goals than any other team in the league and are mid-table (equal 13th) for set piece goals scored. Both stats are an improvement on the figures for the 2020-2021 season. Organisation is visibly better at set pieces, both ends of the pitch. Allan Russell.
Absolute, i.e. number of set piece goals (2 conceded, 6 scored). https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/2...TeamStatistics/England-Championship-2022-2023 The comparison with two seasons ago is on position in the "table", i.e. relative to other teams in the league: This season so far (1st and =13th) Two seasons ago (=2nd and =20th)* * "3rd" amended to "=2nd" on re-checking!
Wagner on Sargent: “Obviously. I know him very well from Germany. For me, he's a central striker. It isn't his best position to help out on the wing,” said Wagner, who was officially unveiled on Monday at Carrow Road. “This is where he can help out, yes, but this is not the position I think where his strengths are. "He played last season and this season and did not too bad so far, but he is a young guy and I'm really looking forward to work with him.” Excellent DW! Put Teemu either left or right of Sarge and one problem solved. https://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/23239203.norwich-city-david-wagner-josh-sargent-canaries-mantra/
But I don't want that! I want Sarge up front by himself. If DW doesn't get that right, he will receive a strongly worded letter from me.
I don’t know if anyone has watched this in its entirety, I really enjoyed the answers from Wagner and it was good to hear from Webber - people really need to appreciate the work he has done for this club and stop treating our current position as a disaster, we have been and are punching above our weight financially and the club has seen incredible progress behind the scenes as well as steps forward and backward on the pitch.
Clear message throughout that it is time to draw a line under the past and move forward together. Also interesting that the PinkUn appear to have had exclusivity on posting the full press conference, I may be wrong but it isn’t on the clubs media, so perhaps a case of beginning to rebuild bridges?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, but do we have a strong enough squad to gain a play-off spot? Gaining promotion seems to be the Wagner/Webber mantra, but we haven’t been showing promotion form for months.
There are enough games to string a run together and of course we all hope that Wagner can get us firing . It's way too early to judge , we will probably see how likely that is after the transfer window closes and see who's left and if we recruit . I don't personally think we will finish top 6 based on recent performances but I certainly haven't given up . At least Smith has gone and I want to go to games again
The only "bridge" that has collapsed is the privileged access formerly accorded Archant's Pink'Un journalists, basically involving special briefings (in advance of general release for example). I wouldn't expect that particular privilege to be restored, purely because the Pink'Un is now a Newsquest title, and operates in a completely different way to Archant.
