****ing love Joy Division. Simply no one better at being dark, moody, and introspective, but still somehow managed to be uplifting. Captured the spirit of the times I think, or one aspect of it.
Massive attack were, well, ****ing massive. And Trickie - ****ing genius, that guy. Something in the water in Bristol in the 90s; could have been the cider actually.
A few good lyrics scattered across a couple of songs, and the music industry tried to repackage Jarvis Cocker as the reincarnation of Ray Davis. Loads of **** being spoken at the time about Pulp being a 90’s version of The Kinks. Not fit to polish Ray Davis’ elasticated cuban heeled boots imo.
Worst decade of music of all time Imo. Not so much for the music but for the singing voices... Especially male voices. Everyone sounded excessively breathy and as if they were suffering from laryngitis.
Different Class was a superb album imo, nothing good before that or after but that one album is great imo.
Anything grunge. Anything Oasis. anything hootie. Smashing pumpkins, Dave Matthews... Etc,etc, etc, Vocals were just plain terrible in the 90's. I boycotted the radio for a decade. I'm not saying there wasn't any good songs that decade, but it really was a dire decade for music... Thankfully it was better before and it's got better since
So the rollover of late eighties rock and indie, the height of Britpop, Grunge none of that any good???
