I'm not seeking medical advice just some ideas. Around a month ago I woke up with quite bad aches and pains and continued since. These pains change in area on a day to day basis. It can be neck, back, arms or legs. It seems to be more muscles then joins or bones. Me and my partner bought a new mattress before Christmas and it hasn't really help. I went to the walking centre GP and they basically said I need to see my GP for blood tests. I'm in the process of changing GP because I've not been able to get in at my GPs all week. Anyone got any ideas because it's driving mad and making me miserable.
Hi - I only have half a potential answer. I am suffering from exactly the same thing. I've just had blood tests, and they are telling me that I am HLA-B 27 positive. It seems to be an inflammatory condition caused by your immune system attacking your body. It's linked to rheumatism and arthritis. I haven't seen a doctor to see what the potential treatment is like, but it took me months (years in fact) to get this far so maybe you could save some time by asking them to look at this?
You could take 4 x 2 paracetamol per day (but no more meds containing paracetamol) on a regular basis as a background pain killer which is non addictive and, if you can take it, will provide some pain relief whilst the wheels of the NHS grind slowly towards some tests
To add something. Once I get walking and moving the stiffness and pains ease a lot. It seems to get worse when I'm sat or laid for a while.
Regardless of what any of us says stick with (waiting) for the blood tests. (See mplooney) Have you rang 111 for advice? (Probably say GP...) This time of year we (tend to) go out less (sunlight), exercise less, eat more of what's not good for us, more time in bed / settee etc. All adds to the aches feeling worse. Most of us have not been out much - so we are circulating with bugs our body / immune system are not used to - your body may be just fighting all the germs floating about at this time (I've got the lurggy for the first time in 2 years and have felt like ****) Try and get out today whilst the sun is shining even if you don't want to, try exercise a bit.more, eat a little better, do things you enjoy Rule anything else out via.blood tests etc.
I'm exactly the same - I also get it in my fingers. I can hardly move them first thing in the morning, but if I stretch them, they are pretty much ok within an hour. My settee sets mine off if I sit in the wrong position! I changed my pillows, and that helped. There is a bloke (Sikh) who sells special neck pain pillows on Beverley market that really help alleviate the neck and back aches
I've had great results from taking just one Omega fish oil a day. Not the cheap ones though, they’ll do nothing for you. Oh and they do take a while to kick in.
As Ron says you get less sunlight this time of year. That can cause vitamin D deficiency, and some symptoms of that sound like you. You might already, but if not taking a multivitamin daily would do any harm *quick reminder that although vegans definitely need to take B12 supplements, so do most meat eaters because although it’s in meat the body doesn’t take it in well from food regardless.
The nurse at the walk in centre mentioned vitamin D and B12. I do take a multi vitamin everyday. I definitely tell when I haven't had it.
Could of course be a multitude of reasons. Maybe blood tests will or maybe won't highlight something. Re. exercise. It's ok saying 'exercise' but that's a very wide generic response, and some forms of exercise could even / easily make things worse. Might be worth looking into DDPY (just Google it). It's exercise that improves mobility, flexibility, strength and cardio all in one, at home, without major time investment and without big cost. And it works incredibly well. It has adaptions for literally pretty much anybody. And it covers sensible nutrition.
Lots of well-intended stuff on here Cas, for what it's worth and if it was me I'd be pressing hard for a professional diagnosis before trying the diy route.
I think with this sort of thing it’s always best to go to the extreme ( not I hasten to add they’re taking over you know type extreme ) but Google rare tropical diseases that sort of thing Only found in Amazon rainforest or Mongolia And you’ll definitely have that I think either that or pre Xmas is a stressful time and our brains go into over drive Start thinking or missing past friends and relatives Work gets more stressful in the lead up to it Buying presents Forcing yourself to seem happy when you’re thinking why the fuxk am I at this gathering All the **** extra food you eat has an effect On you too never mind the booze tough time of the year getting through January but it’s definitely a rare tropical disease I caught it just reading your post
I was having bad pains in my neck, back and shoulders at end of last year. My partner suggested some yoga stretches to try and help. Was reluctant to give them a go but gave in and it certainly helped. Don't do a whole work out of them, just 3 or 4 that focus on those areas and relieves the pain for a good 2 or 3 weeks. Might help.
