I like him as a bench player/occasional starter. Could do much worse. Very stylish player who can finish. He's definitely top 6 quality if you consider Coutinho top 4 quality. He's miles better than some of the ****e we've had on the bench in the Rafa, Roy, Kenny days. Feel a good season for him would be 8+ goals and 5+ assists. Maybe Sean O'Driscoll could administer electric shocks to him every time he does a pointless Cruyff turn.
Pretty much all of this (bar the electric shocks ) I think he is also the sort of player who can just create something different in a stalemate situation in a game An important squad player for us (and its a squad game these days)
Absolutely. He's never going to be one of the best. But he's a darn site better than players we've had in the past who have played a similar role. Yes he was expensive but he's one of a few players who can create something out of nothing.
He's a decent player - nothing special and flatters to deceive. Good squad player to have but unfortunately, we splashed out £25m for him. No real value.
Wasting money in one place means we can't spend it other places. I rather we spend the money correctly in the first place, regardless of whether or not it's mine.
Yep. Our squad is better because of him. And now you see what retarded levels English players are going for because of the homegrown rule. Anyone whinging about Lallana needs to sort their priorities out.
He's capable of better than we've seen from him so far, lets see if he can get his game in order and be useful to us. We have a lot of options in his position though.
Extracting the perfect level of value from every single penny is not feasible. And if it was the club wouldn't bother with the footy they'd just use their psychic powers to play the stock market.
As astro says, we have bigger problems in our squad at the mo. We overpaid, it happens, but at least he isn't total deadwood and has some importance in the squad as opposed to other dross. Borini, Allen, Balotelli etc. £43m there alone.
We seem to overpay for players all the time, so yes, I would say it's still a big problem - considering we just forked out £32.5m for Benteke.
One mistake in the transfer market in a season can be overlooked, but three or four mistakes is not acceptable.
Can for £10m, Gomez £3.5m, Coutinho £8.5m, Sturridge £12m, Milner (Free). It can often go both ways mate, as long as the signings fit and end up succeeding I'm really not bothered. Benteke is the #1 target and one way or another we're landing him.
Your exaggerated language resembles a WUM Buying a very good player but for the money of a very very good player is not "wasting money" The best player in a top half of the table team is not a "midtable player"
Yes, and they're good signings and I rather we do that than spend: £35m on Carroll £20m on Downing £32m on Benteke etc etc. The common factor is these players are midtable PL players. We make the same mistakes all the time/
To be fair mate, Benteke could turn out to be a success for all you know. Look, I do agree, the difference is that Lallana is a good player, whereas the two you mentioned were poor and flopped. I think he's done enough to warrant a chance this season, no injuries permitted. And the thing is, you get the Coutinho's but then you can the Assaidi's, Lamberts, Albertos, Aspas etc. etc.
Unless Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal etc. are willing to sell us their best players then "midtable" as you put it is the highest level available to us And then you'd whinge about the about £50m fees we'd have to fork out, like Man City just had to Maybe in your world we could get Aguero for £20m, Hazard for £15m, and Sanchez for £12m but there's no point complaining that's not #reality
But we've paid it now and however much we moan, we can't get some money back so now you have to just look at him as a player and ignore te price. Does es he improve our squad? Absolutely
