There have been a few threads on here about Aguero both before and after his appearance on Monday, which I have to say was pretty impressive. He reminded me of Luis. How do you think if we had him and Suarez up front instead of Carroll. Would it work or not? I have to say I'm not sure.
Are you Schofield in disguise? This is something that grinds my gears about this forum. People on here comparing Carroll to Aguero. They are completely different types of player. Its like comparing Wayne Rooney to Ian Rush or Thierry Henry. If you want to compare Aguero to anyone compare him like for like and that is Suarez,Rooney and Tevez.
Let's be honest. How many went and altered their whole FF team immediately following the match to add aguero in? Not me, I waited about 7 hours Oh, I don't think Suarez and aguero would do well side by side, they need someone to run off of them.
Aguero and Suarez are too similar, a partnership wouldnt work. Man City will use Dzeko in the same way we will use Carroll, as the target man that will feed and feed off them. Its the classic big man/Small man partnership with a creative midfielder behind, Man C; Silva, Liverpool; Gerrard (when fit). Having both players at your club would be great but also abit of a managerial headache as the both do the same job. I would think that Suarez and Augero will both end up with alot of goals this year.
In a open game with plenty of space to run into, him and Suarez would be brilliant. That said, we have enough to win these games anyway. I think Aguero would be the difference between a 2-0 and a 4-0 (as he was on Monday.) But 3 points is 3 points no matter how many you win by. Then there are those games where the opposition defend tight (Stoke, for example, are good at crowding you out) and you need to nick a scrappy goal, and Carroll is better for that. He'd be the difference between a 0-0 and a 1-0, which is preferable to the above.
Aguero and Suarez for me would be too much like Fowler and Owen and Rush and Aldridge. You never saw Ian Wright and Andy Cole play together, why? too similar. The best foil for Suarez is Andy Carroll not Aguero.
Ironically, I think both Aguero and Suarez play best alongside Forlan, which just goes to show you how similar they are.
Ironically, I think both Aguero and Suarez play best alongside Forlan, which just goes to show you how similar they are. Suarezlfc Excellent post. Spot on. Suarez or Aguero can only play alongside a target man or a goal-poacher, they cannot play alongside each other,as they are neither.
I didn't put Aguero in! Decided to change my defence around and hope that Aguero doesn't score! It's a risk but if it works...
I know Aguero and Carroll are very different players, But, i would have Aguero over Carroll anyday. I'm sure with some work Suarez and Aguero could be a formidable partnership.
The only sort of game they'd do well in, as I said, is an open one where the opportunities almost make themselves. Against someone like United, who are excellent tactically, they wouldn't work because they'd both be dropping deep. I always thought Rooney/Berbatov was better than Rooney/Tevez in that sense. Even better is Rooney/Hernandez, as the latter gambles more than Berbatov.
I know most people would rather have Aguero over Carroll any time. However you have to think sensibly. You cannot partner Aguero and Suarez as explained earlier. Suarez and Kuyt worked together but Kuyt isn't a target man. Thats different because Kuyt is technically a poacher by trade that has lost a yard of pace but still has his stamina.
Yeah but they're not as alike as Aguero and Suarez. Dirk is a bit like Forlan in that his goals are rarely anything besides tap ins (see Drik versus United, and Forlan versus us in the Europa). Both are good positionally, whereas Aguero and Suarez are more likely to carve out their own chances.
Explain why Kuyt and Suarez were an excellent partnership then. So far a hell of a lot better than Carroll being there!
See my post above. Carroll has a lot to learn positionally in comparison to Kuyt. Sometimes he's a little slow to decide what he wants to do with the ball too. He'll get better the more he plays.
I'd like to see Dirk and Suarez start, with Carroll coming on for the last half hour or so. The former pair worked great towards the end of last season.
Hope so because to be completely honest im yet to see anything that suggests he's worth even half his price tag.
