It won't stop him getting jobs - even Brucie still got jobs for 20 years after walking out on his first 3 or 4 jobs at the merest whiff of a pay rise. I just hope Alex Neil bobs around the lower end of the Championship whilst we get back into the PL with a young owner and a young squad full of ambition and he wonders why he did what he did
i've got no problem with him moving on for better money, but to sit and watch a stoke game while still employed by SAFC was unforgivable for me. If you can't show respect you deserve no respect. **** him, parasite !
Him and Joel Asoro looked to have great futures at the time. Asoro is now playing in Sweden. Of course young players regularly fail to make the grade expected of them, but I'm convinced that these two were pushed too far too fast, and it did then little good in the long run.
Whatever problems he had with KLD/Speakman/SAFC is one thing and may well be entirely justified. But, as you say, nothing excuses the disrespect he showed to the people who'd supported him. Was it vital he appeared at that Stoke match with the owner before he'd even left us ... .... no it wasn't and that created the resentment people are showing now. It was a shameless thing to do and it destroyed any respect I had for him. I'll boo him at the SOL and I doubt I'll be alone.
I agree. He never intyended to stay at Sunderland. He did not sign a long term contract. He did not move his family to the NE. He was simply waiting for an offer nearer home with at least the same money. He's not worth remembering.
Don’t really care... still doesn’t change the fact that there are over 48,200,000 kangaroos in Australia whilst Wales has a population of 3,136,000. So if the kangaroos decided to invade Wales, every Welsh man and woman would have to fight 15 kangaroos.
At this stage, there must be some doubt as to whether he'll still be in charge by March. 5 defeats in the last 7
It would be great if a defeat put Stoke into the bottom three and they were relegated by virtue of the 6 points we took off them.
That'd be nice OR he gets sacked after we beat them. Wonderful symmetry after they tapped him up following our win down there
If Tony Mowbray says in his next interview that being close to home and being paid well were the big factors in his decision and it's not really about Sunderland, our squad or our fans, would you suddenly have more respect for him? Do you think a load of our fans would be pissed off of he did that? Like it or not, he doesn't need your respect, he needs the respect of his current employers and the buy in of the Stoke fans.
# His reasons for leaving aren't the problem for me, and other people, it's the way he left ... ... showed no respect to the supporters, why should we respect him. And as for him not needing my respect, that's totally irrelevant ... ... although the Stoke fans don't seem to respect him which is more important. "A horrifying performance from everyone including the manager. One of the worst I’ve ever witnessed. It was just appalling." "I dont think ive genuinely calmed down after the abomination i witnessed yesterday. It was a truly criminal performance. If anyone who went saw a positive from the game i would love to here it, cos it just wouldn't resonate with me or the fans around me."
I don't think we should respect him, I just don't feel the need to get hung up on him leaving. We're moving forward without him, that's the best revenge.
I know what you're saying but I feel justified in feeling aggrieved. I can 'move forward' at the same time as hoping Neil fails to fulfil his 'vision' for the mighty Stoke City. It's just malicious entertainment tbh
Bruce had five or six promotions from the Championship though, Neil has one, from the play offs. Not troubled at all about him, he's chased money and fair enough, but he's only 41, has a lot of living to support, and if he flops at Stoke he'll find he won't get that level of chance again in a hurry.
Although I do have an element of understanding for him leaving for more money and to be closer to family, the fact he happily left just before a presser on the eve of a big game shows how he regarded us, clearly thought we were beneath him, and that’s the reason I hate him, love the job he done and thank him for getting us out of L1, but other than that his rep is done here
Whenever I see a new post on this thread I hope it’s gonna say Judas sacked or that his balls have turned square and started rotting at the corners
He was part of the team that finally got us out of leauge one. He isn't here anymore for numerous reasons. On we move.
