The ONE big problem Leeds still face ... consistency. After thrashing Brum it was all set up perfectly for a huge step forwards by following that awesome performance up with an away win against a Huddersfield team shorn of their three best players ... Vaughan, Paterson and Clayton. Early goal scored, push on an demolish the Dog Botherers ... but no, the one thing haunting us rears its ugly head again. What is it? I'll explain.

We are rid of that thieving Bates and his unprofessional group of fools who conspired to drag our club down to the very depths. At least we now have a board, albeit not covered in oil, at least prepared to try and back the manager as much as they can. Under Bates we would have sold Ross for £800k, Byram would have been gone as well, no new signings coming in and the fees received quickly moved to an account on Mars. Good stuff, thanks GFH for chopping off the snake's head!!

McD has replaced that clown Colin, and at last we have a manager who is intelligent, honest, and who knows how to build a successful team. Reading fcuked up when they sacked him. Unfortunately we still have dross on contracts that nobody else wants, we are paying out money thanks to Bates and his "forward selling" of season tickets, and these things are hurting us. Yes, we know all this.

Here is our achilles heel. We still do not have a squad of players who know HOW to play for Leeds United. Do we have talent? Yes, we have players who on their day can beat anyone. We just don't have players who can cope with the expectation that comes with wearing the White shirt. We don't have players capable of playing EVERY game as if its a Cup Final. They can't lift themselves every match, whilst our opponents are ALWAYS up for it when they play Leeds United. Our opponents don't need motivating ... the Leeds fixture is the first one they all look out for ... they train their guts out in the weeks leading up to the Leeds game because they want to be selected ... they lie awake and dream about beating Leeds, scoring a wonder goal against us ... they do not require a team talk at all.

Our players seem incapable of matching opposition performances every match ... they don't have the mentality to play for a big club. If you are at Arsenal, Scum, Spurs, Chelsea, Citeh ... everyone wants to beat you. What keeps these teams at the right end of the table is their players' ability to go out and play at a high level every week. This wears down opponents, creates doubt and gets results. Our lot can't do it. Talent, yes ... temperament, no.

The signing of Zaliukas will help. He is a veteran, has played at the highest level and is a leader. Players like Byram, Lees and Mowatt get it, because they have come through our Academy and understand the club and its fans. They always give 100% no matter what. We just need to add players who have the mentality to play for a big club, who understand there are no easy games when you play for Leeds. It starts with matching your opponents for desire and commitment EVERY match, and then your talent can take over. Against Brum we showed fantastic desire and they couldn't cope with us. Against Huddersfield we forgot that lesson, and paid the price.

McD will understand this, and he will be replacing the marshmallows with some steel as and when the situation allows it. For now, we need to be patient, understand we have players on contracts who shouldn't be here, and support the manager while he performs his surgery and develops his team. Once the Greens, Varneys, Browns, Morisons, etc are gone, then we can really judge McD and HIS team. MOT!!

You mean that clown Colin that had more points then BM?

Reading fcuked up? Is that why they are 6 points above us in the playoffs? And now have a manager in charge should they go up can keep them up like he would have done at Southampton? Unlike BM who sent reading down? In what way did they fcuked up?

How many of BM signings have the mentality to play for us? Hunt? Murphy? Smith? Really? Not from what we seen so far and cost us 1M. Should they be on long contracts here?

And burm couldn't cope because they was the 2end worse away team in the championship when we played them.

And where has Zaliukas played at the highest level? Hearts highest level? Desperate signings.

Do you not think Byram would been sold if he was not injured then? We soon find out when jan comes, so can't see him stocking around if a prem team comes in, I bet you Norwich offer us becchio trade for him in jan.

Reading failed to back McD in the January window ... it cost them their manager and Prem survival. Adkins is not guaranteed to be a Prem success, if he gets Reading up he will be sacked by Xmas. Colin is the genius who swapped Becchio for Morison, played Brown off the bench enough times to get him a contract extension, signed a bunch of awful players who were never going to add anything to the team (e.g. signed Hall and refused to play him), had Barkley on loan and refused to play him (WTF), I won't go on. Now please fcuk off you stupid sod, you make no sense at all, just another mindless plank.

I think you lot need to get your heads out of the sand - meme is correct in everything he says.
McDermott is useless - has bought £250k players for £1M and let £2m players go out on loan (paying half their wages too)
Has you playing hoof ball which means better teams like Huddersfield, Reading, Derby, Millwall and QPR are able to play you off the park with very little effort. He has Ignored the fact that you need wingers and a goalscorer and gives his mates the jobs instead (Hunt and Colouredstock).

You all moan about Warnock, but its his signings that are your best players and its his tactics that Matt Lucas has you playing!!

And there it is ... another owner with his head up his ass trying to pin the blame on the manager after failing to support him financially ... remember, McD wasn't his appointment and the noob always wanted his "own man" because he knows better!!

"Reading owner Anton Zingarevich claims a reluctance to spend led to Brian McDermott's departure from the club."

The key word here is "claims" by another owner who speaks with a forked tongue, is always right and should really be picking the team every week ... or maybe he is!! I stand by my point that its players who can't hack it at a big club, and we have a superb manager who will put this club right in good time ... a massive job for all concerned but with Bates gone its now achievable.

So, minimememe, by all means join the debate, but write something of substance for a change rather than being this mindless one trick pony you seem to be. Somehow I don't think you have the ability to step up to the plate and contribute anything intelligent ... or maybe you'll surprise us all ... then again probably not. What a pity, would have been nice to have some insight from a new contributor, but it seems you have no idea at all what "contribution" actually means. C ya ....

I don't think consistency is the problem. Our away form is just poor, at home we have been very good. We have played 7 games at elland road and we have 4 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw. The two losses were against Burnley and QPR and were very tough games that we wouldn't necessarily expect to win and so far they have beaten almost every team they have played. Our away form however is 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses and losses against poor teams as well.

BMD said his first task was to make Elland road a hard place to come to and he is doing that with only Burnley outplaying us there and QPR seeming quite lucky to get there win. Now he has said that he is going to work on the away form as well so lets hope he can have similar results away as well. Early season, although we were winning games I thought we were a long way off but now with Byram coming back and the signings of Blackstock and Zaliukas I really don't think we are that far off and am now thinking the results will pick up

PERSONALLY THE WAY HE STITCHED NILLWALL UP WITH MORO MEANS I CAN FORGIVE ALL ELSE.An injury prone player cant score in a brothel, who if he was a horse would have been shot, and even inserted a no early return clause.<applause> classic.

Agree with everything in your first post Billy, save the bit about Brown. With Austin in fine form, Brown certainly won't start. But off the bench and if he can remember to stay on his feet in the tackle, he's a useful player to have. He's not massively creative, but we do need some steel somewhere in the team, and that he provides in spades.

LOL Boggers old mate ... if he can remember to stay on his feet!! Agree Brown is the best of the invisible bunch, my only concern was that if he wasn't going to feature this season it surely wasn't wise to extend his contract. He may well still score a 40 yard screamer that wins us promotion :)

That's how he operates. Mixes outrageous nonsense with some views that some fans might relate to, sucks you into a "discussion" where he can then turn it towards his usual topics. Beware

Fair enough Billy. I think his contract is up at the end of the season. If he isn't offered another 1 year extension, and his age will count against him, who will do the hard yards and add the steel if Austin is either suspended or injured? Me, I think unless there is someone in the club right now, he might well get another year - cheaper than buying someone who's likely to spend most of his time on the bench.
