I honestly have to say I can’t. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/education/former-cardiff-city-footballer-who-24961214
Nope. A short Wiki entry reckons he played 55 times for us. Might be my failing memory but I can't remember him.
Yep, vague recollections but didn't know he's stopped due to injury. Good to see he's gone on to have a decent career outside the game though... there were a few players who came through the ranks around that time, Damon Searle probably being the most prominent one. I swear there was another midfielder that came through around the same time that I thought looked decent but he never amounted to much... will need to do some digging.. oh, and not forgetting the likes of Chris Fry and Paul Wheeler too!! EDIT - having looked at the list of players from that time, I'm probably thinking of Jason Gummer...
Found the line ups. City scorer was Leigh Barnard. Recognise most except A Lewis, J Morgan and both subs. Checked on Lewis who was a defender who played 50 games for City but had to retire early due to injury.
I cant believe nobody remembers Jon Morgan where were you in those dark days bloody glory hunters. Maybe its because it was my youth and I was regularly going away then. Morgan scored a great comedy goal in front of us in a 5-2 away victory at Craven Cottage. Some brilliant play by Cohen down the left set up Jon for an easy tap in for what looked about 2 yards. Couldnt miss. But miss he did. He hits the bar. The ball drops back down and he gets it over the line. Proceeds to go mental running behind the goal to the fans. I was also at the Swansea game when Barnard scored early. We were decimated by injuries and without internet we had no idea what the side was. Shocked to see Alan Lewis who was about 18 I reckon and someone I knew warming up. Gave us the thumbs up as he warming up. They didnt let us down.
I’m disappointed in myself as I can recall many random players - if that’s not too unfair a description- from the 70’s such as Roger Hoy, Jimmy McCinch, George Smith, Gerry Byrne, etc etc and beyond through the era’s but this guy just slipped through my radar.
is wiki wrong here Former Cardiff City footballer Jonathan Morgan, who made more than 70 appearances for the club, including FA Cup, Welsh Cup and European Cup Winners Cup games, has been made principal of Coleg y Cymoedd. Jonathan, who says his best moment playing for the Bluebirds was when they beat Swansea one nil on Boxing Day 1990,
Well in that case, based on the Jack's most recent attendances, things haven't changed too much for them since then! Only circa 3k more in attendance for their last home game.... Suppose I could be opening myself up to counter barbs here though as our attendances could drop further if the team doesn't turn things around quickly and the fans start turning on the club for sacking SM.
