Before anyone starts the usual nonsense I'm not knocking Williams as a player. But my mate and I were chatting to fans around us yesterday and we all noticed Williams's head dropping during the game. He doesn't seem to be an effective Captain at all in my opinion, though that may be down to the players around him more than anything else. But if you are appointed Captain you must never, ever drop your head. It's your job to marshall the players, encouraging them when they get it right and telling them how to put it right when they get it wrong. If other players see their Captain's head drop what sort of message is that sending to the team? However, what's really pissed me off is this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35017044 Is Williams allowed to do whatever he likes at our Club? Is he ever sanctioned for this crap? Wasn't there an incident in the Tunnel at Villa (though instigated by an opposing player)? Instead of pouring oil on troubled waters he always seems to be at the centre of it. Don't give us crap about about "it shows he has passion". It's unprofessional and embarrassing. What sort of example is he setting for his players, particularly the younger ones? It is It seems to me that he is feeling the pressure and reacting very very badly to it. We need a Captain Cool, not Hothead. Sort it out Ash or pass the armband to someone who can do a better job!
Yeah, I've noticed this too. Needs to calm down...perhaps it's a result of him seeing his clique beginning to fail and about to be torn apart. Perhaps he's annoyed with himself too that he never made that jump to Arsenal while he had the chance and now he's stuck at struggling Swansea where knows that once we get a new manager in to replace Monk, Swansea as he knows it won't be the same. The new manager is going to come in, chop up the starting lineup, and probably give Ayew the captaincy in an attempt to keep him here beyond January - I wouldn't be against that, he's vice-captain for Ghana and has the experience of leading on the pitch. Williams won't have the say that he used to, and best buddy Monk won't be there to back him up. The toys appear to be getting well and truly thrown out of the pram.
I've always question giving someone the captaincy who seemed to be shopping himself around at almost every transfer window prior to Monk taking over ....just an opinion though , has been a great servant once he hits the pitch season after season .
He's been like this for months. He's getting involved with scraps all the time, he was the same against Villa, he needs to calm down and lead by example.
I think him smashing into Vardy and coming off worse affected him. Shoulder to shoulder with a skin and bone Vardy and Ash hits the deck; shaming. Probably wanted to prove that he's 'hard' after that.
Pains me to say it and he's got an ulterior motive but for me atm Ayew is taking over the Captains role ,in as much cajoling the players something which is sadly missing from Ash and does appear as if he's on a one man mission but seems to be leaving the rest of the team behind in terms of encouragement .
He's been piss poor for most of the season. Looks slow and a good half a stone overweight. I'd like to see a back 4 of Naughton, Fernandez, Amat (where the hell is he anyway) and Tabanou.
I'm not sure about that Valley. But Williams is losing it big time and needs to get himself under control. It's important that the Captain remains a steadying influence, not a disruptive one.
He's been a good captain for us and Wales but I think he's showing his frustration at the way the team are playing and what's going on in the club generally. Just like the rest of us.
Sound like you lads should be talking to Ashley Williams Mrs? I'm sure she'll tell you what's up with him........................... He can do no wrong as far as I see it, great CB............
Now the FA want answers: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35040396 We can do without this right now don't you think?
This bit creases me up. "Williams then attempted to follow Mahrez on to Leicester bus". Perhaps Williams thought it was going to Blaen y Maes,or wherever the hell he lives, then realising his mistake, turned back.
Could all this bust up be to do with the Leicester player on the floor like he had been shot and then as soon as they broke he was up and sprinting, I am sure that was Mahrez.
