Unfortunately, no repeat from Clark today.

EPL 13/12/2014 : West Bromwich Albion 1-0 Aston Villa

I thought AVFC had the beating of Albion, even after Richardson's Red Card. With it being 10 v 11 we came under pressure, but I thought AVFC handled it well. Albion's goal followed a pinball sequence but even after they had scored we had chances to level it. This defeat sees AVFC drop 1 to 12th in the EPL and will drop to 13th if Everton do not lose to QPR on Monday.

Match Report : AVFC - West Brom 1-0 Villa report: Derby defeat for 10-man visitors

    Attendance : 24,684 (SSN)

Manager's verdict : AVFC - Gaffer's verdict: Boss Lambert on derby loss to Baggies

EPL 20/12/2014 : Aston Villa 1-1 Manchester United

AVFC were defensive for the most part, understandable tactics in this case, but I always felt we could score when attacking Man United, so maybe a bit more adventure on our part could have yielded a win. Good goal from Benteke to give the lead, pity it was not held. A cynic might say that the referee did us a favour sending off Agbonlahor (65th minute), but I could not possibly comment. We could have won it right at the end, Bacuna's shot narrowly skimming over the bar. Well done, Aston Villa, currently 12th in the EPL.

Managers got to be cheesed off with the wrongful sending off decision.

It was never a red card, but live (I was in Trinity Row A) it looked worse than it was.
I expect it to be appealed and the appeal should be successful. I was unaware that it was Agbonlahor's first ever red card !

Thanks for the good wishes, Roofjack, AVFC can be its own worst enemy at times !

EPL 26/12/2014 : Swansea City 1-0 Aston Villa

Lots of possession and deckplay from AVFC, but to little effect as a lot of it was square, or back, or to the opposition !
Swansea's goal came from a free kick conceded by Okore after he had been given a short backward pass from Sanchez, iirc. Agbonlahor, Weimann and Benteke had chances that were missed or saved. Aston Villa's duff Christmas record continues.
This defeat sees AVFC drop one place to 13th in the EPL.

Match Report : AVFC - Report: Swansea 1-0 Villa: Defeat despite encouraging display

    Attendance : 20,683 (SSN)

Manager's verdict : AVFC - Gaffer's verdict: Lambert upbeat despite Swansea loss

EPL 26/12/2014 : Aston Villa 0-0 Sunderland - this Site no longer identifies the colours and I am colour-blind, so it is paint it black from now on !!!

Virtually no hoofing, a lot of deckplay, okay in itself, but still too much of it square or back. Benteke was an isolated figure at the front, which only changed when Grealish was brought on in the second half. MOTM was Sanchez, officially and in my book too. Talking of books, Delph's red card at the start of the second half handicapped our efforts today.
Aston Villa stay 13th in the EPL.

Match Report : AVFC - Villa 0-0 Sunderland report: Solid point after Delph dismissal

    Attendance : 35,436 - circa 33K Villans, I reckon.

Manager's verdict : AVFC - Villa 0-0 Sunderland verdict: Lambert - That was a big point

EPL 01/01/2015 : Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace

Pass, pass, pass, pass, pa ... going nowhere !!!
Deckplay and keeping possession is all very well, but it needs to be the springboard for attacks, which it was not today, nor in previous matches. Too often the moves broke down and gave Palace the opportunity, fortunately not taken, for a (ironically) counter-attacking goal.
MOTM (again, deservedly, despite a couple of scares), was Sanchez.
This second consecutive 0-0 sees AVFC rise to 12th in the EPL.

Match Report : AVFC - Match report: Villa 0-0 Palace - Stalemate against the Eagles

    Attendance : 29,047 - 28K Villans ?

Manager's verdict : AVFC - Villa 0-0 Palace verdict: Lambert craving finishing touch
