EPL 17/01/2015 : Aston Villa 0-2 Liverpool I cannot fault the effort. Villa's play was a combination of passing, short and long, there were attempts on goal, Carles Gil had a good debut, but AVFC remain goalless and winless. However, if the team persists in playing like they did today, the tide will turn. We are getting our Villa back. The combination of results today sees AVFC drop one place to 14th in the EPL. FA Cup Round 4, 25/01/2015 : Aston Villa 2-1 Bournemouth Aston Villa had three shots on target and scored twice. The first goal, from Carles Gil, was individual brilliance, the second, from Weimann, came from an excellent sweeping team move. Westwood had the third shot, which was pushed to safety by the Bournemouth goalkeeper. Bournemouth played very well, but their goal, good for them, was a poor one for Villa to concede. The draw for the fifth round is tomorrow, Monday, 26/01/2015 ... Australia Day ! EPL 01/02/2015 : Arsenal 5-0 Aston Villa A damn nuisance having Villa and Rangers playing simultaneously. I had the stream on for this match, but was watching the Semi-Final on BBC Scotland, so spared myself most of this 'performance' from the Emirates, although the Semi-Final was not much of a consolation prize ! Match Report : AVFC - Report: Strong second half Arsenal showing sees off Villa Attendance : 59,958 (SSN) Manager's verdict : AVFC - Gaffer's verdict: Lambert bemoans concession of poor goals
What's the point of Villa?? Premier League has gone **** as so many ****y clubs like Villa are just happy to avoid relegation each season. Half the games I've seen them play they've been happy to defend a 2-0 defeat!! Least the likes of Burnley and Leicester are attempting to win games, time the premier league relegated **** clubs in bottom 6 and promoted top 6 of the championship
Hats off Larry AV by the way, you are keeping up this thread and board and deserve credit for good support. Keep up the good work, not a fan of Villa but I salute your work and reluctantly hope you good luck.
Thanks, Haslam, I 'soldier on' regardless ! As to 'Bhoy's' question, 'What's the point ?' ... I would like to ask that question of Randy Lerner !!! Next match, I will post stream(s) when they appear. EPL Saturday, 07/02/2015 : Aston Villa v Chelsea, KO 15:00 hours.
Jamie Carragher speaks for all Villa Fans here ... Skysports - Jamie Carragher says goalscoring problems could prove fatal for struggling Aston Villa A club this size should be challenging for Europe not scrapping at the bottom, says pundit We’re not talking about a Mickey Mouse club who are bottom of the league, adrift of everyone else points-wise, completely out of their depth. It’s Aston Villa. It’s one of the biggest clubs in the country. - Jamie Carragher ... Lambert, Fox, but above all, Lerner ... TAKE NOTE and ACT on it.

EPL 07/02/2015 : Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea Not the rout some had feared, more positive forward movement from Villa today, mixing passing short and long. Chelsea's second goal should have been avoided, for that was one of those situations where a hoof upfield is justified. Well done to Carles Gil for making Villa's goal, scored by Okore. Let us hope we do not have to wait another 660 minutes, 11 hours (!!!) before the next one. AVFC remain 16th in the EPL and can only drop to 17th if Burnley beat the Albion tomorrow. EPL Tuesday, 10/02/2015 : Hull City v Aston Villa, KO 19:45 hours. Cricfree - Hull City v Aston Villa Depending on how the other results go, a win could see AVFC rise to 14th, but a defeat could see AVFC drop to 19th.
EPL 10/02/2015 : Hull City 2-0 Aston Villa, KO 19:45 hours. I could not see AVFC scoring at all in this game. Hull's first goal was Sod's Law, deflecting off Clark, but the route-one move that led to it was not. With AVFC it was too much passball in the first half and hopeful hoofing to Bentke in the second half. So, AVFC drop to 18th, in the bottom three and will be 19th if Burnley do not lose at Man United tomorrow night. Has that goddam owner of Our Club woken up yet ??? Action at last, but this is just the first stage. AVFC - Club statement: Paul Lambert Aston Villa Football Club has parted company this evening with manager Paul Lambert. First-team coach Scott Marshall and goalkeeping coach Andy Marshall will continue to prepare the squad for Sunday's FA Cup tie with Leicester City at Villa Park. The club would also like to place on record its thanks to Paul and take this opportunity to wish him every success in the future. The club will announce a new manager in due course. There will be no further comment from the club at this stage.
What were these 'several brutally challenging' years ? At most it was two, under Houllier and McLeish. Before then we were doing alright under MON, but he left suddenly in 2010 and everything has gone downhill since then. Any ideas why that might be, Mr Lerner ? AVFC - Randy Lerner statement Following several brutally challenging years at Villa, Paul Lambert arrived with a fresh view and a proven style and track record. It was our hope, and belief, that Aston Villa would find its footing and strengthen during Paul's tenure with the club. Adding players and investing in the squad over the last three years has strengthened Villa, and it is our hope that given the quality, leadership and team spirit at Bodymoor Heath that we can rise to the occasion for the remainder of the season. I want very much to thank Paul for his commitment to me personally, and to Villa, and wish him well personally and professionally in his future endeavors.
