My main fancy this year is louis oosthuizen(33/1). As i do every year i'll probably back about 6 but still narrowing it down. So far along with oosthuizen i'm on henrik "choker" stenson(30/1), branden grace(66/1) and matt kuchar(66/1). Fellow scot russell knox has caught my eye at 250/1, could be a lively outsider but we'll see.

I was also on stenson to win the houston open over the weekend there, so still a bit annoyed with him. He seems to be one of those nearly men, getting that kind of reputation, but having backed him for most majors over the years i'm sticking with him.

Jordan Spieth might be only a 10-1 shot, but he hasn't been out of the top 21 all season, so if they're paying 7 places, few bucks each way seems like a fair bet.

PS. I'd like to see Day and Scott finish 1-2. :)

I've had a crack at Branden Grace for this. His Masters record is not great but he has really improved and was placed in the top 20 in 2013. Key for him is to be in there amongst them in the opening two rounds.

Ricky Fowler has to come of age sooner rather than later and I think he is the real dark horse in amongst this new 'elite' group.

Those two against the field for me. Love the Masters.

I love the golf but I don't have a good handle on it. Nevertheless, it's not stopped me from a few bets:

    Matsuyama 45/1
    Spieth 10/1
    Zach Johnson 66/1

Not very original but Jason Day is the player to back here. He's by far the best player in the world at the moment, and having won his first major at the end of last season he is now a player who believes he can win these big tournaments. That makes things ominous for everyone else.

You watch the way he destroyed the field in those 2 play off events last year, and the way he won the match play last week, he's a guy who's incredibly confident. And I think his A game is better than everyone else's, even Spieth and Mcilroy can't compete as they don't have the lentgh and accuracy combined off the tee that Day has. His short game is incredible, and his putting is also pretty good. It's flawless golf when he's playing well. Mcilroy had a bogey free round when they met in the match play, and Day still beat him. So he's going to take all the stopping this week if you ask me.

That's about as original as tipping Don Cossack to win the Gold Cup <nahnah> ;-)

Or as original as tipping Zach Johnson at 125/1 for the Open. Remember that one?

No point going against a favourite just for the sake of it though. Days a great bet this week I believe.

Yes mate, that was right up there with Jonas Blixt at 350-1 for the 2014 Masters!
I am doing a few Masters/National EW doubles so have heeded Jason Day (your shout) and put him in an EW double with Many Clouds 71-1.

Fingers crossed, have a good weekend.
