I was the opposite ! - I thought with four wingers on the bench, that they would be unleashed against tiring fullbacks. Didn`t work out that way though!
Meh. Depends who the wingers are. Sulemana? Can't get any excitement there, hugely disappointing season. Edozie? More miss than hit this season. Has had his moments, admittedly, but not done anything for a while. Fraser? Faded in the last couple of months compared to his really impressive start. Brooks? Ditto.
TBH what happened during the regular season doesn't really matter now. It's about someone coming up with a moment of quality that will lead to goal. Brooks and Fraser are more than capable of doing that.
Yep absolutely. Friday is the whole season now in one game. Succeed & we’ll have a further opportunity but that’s for another day. Friday is the be all. I have trust RM & the team can deliver.
The 10 minute highlights were very flattering to Saints! First 20 minutes they were all over us yet the highlights made it look the opposite.
I thought that, we were under the cosh for ages. So the overall 63% possession we had was skewed to the latter 75% of the match.
I don’t think that Stephens was bad but, like so many others, he is prone to making a sloppy pass which then puts pressure on the back line. Defensively he was okay. I thought our midfield basically disappeared as the second half progressed, which stopped us from building any sustained momentum and it was all just too scrappy. This emphasised how much we missed Che as he often comes deep and gives an option for the defenders to pass to as well as helping to move the ball forward. Hope we can wrap it up without going to penalties as the players most likely to take the penalties will most likely have been subbed off before then.
Funny you should say that about Che, when Ross game on, I noticed that he quite a few times in the 20 or so mins he was on came deep back into our half to get the ball. The other thing that struck me about him was that literally 2 seconds later in the next phase he was halfway into the WBA half - he is rapid.
Yeah not a dig at Jack but I thought he was really sloppy, lethargic in the last 15-20mins. I was quite worried we’d end up with a calamitous tippy tappy goal “you know where” at the end& I was strangely “happy” with the 0-0 Ps. Just arrived at the infamous La Zenia roundabout for couple weeks. Villamartín Hub Friday nite.
Yep I wouldn't say Mara was bad the other day, he just wasn't good. Or Che. That is the issue. As much as Che likes to miss a sitter, Mara doesn't hold the ball up as well.Yet. I am 100% convinced there is a great player there, unfortunately we may not see it though as he will leave before we do. Two words to make you all think what could be. Joe Aribo Think how bad he was last year and how good he is this year.
1 word for the reason for the turnaround in Aribos form Relegation He is a Championship level player who was signed to play for a Premier League team
I'm not saying that hasn't played a part in it, but surely you can't ignore the fact we have a new manager with a completely different idealogy and way of playing. Some players will of course be better suited to different systems because they value different attributes. Ralph needed pace and good positioning, whereas Martin will of course value ball control/retention more. Aribo excelled in the Europa league which is a higher level of club than the championship, so i dont think its fair to rule him out after just 1 season in which 90% of our team struggled.
