Possibly, I’d argue that most Europa League games aren’t as high a standard as a PL game though, so maybe Aribo, like A. Armstrong is too good for the Championship but not good enough for the PL Maybe the system change might help Aribo look better in the PL but I don’t think he’s good enough to be able to stroll around the pitch Berbatov style in a PL game regardless of how a team sets up
Potentially. I'm not saying I think he 100% is premier league quality, but I do think he deserves another shot. Rangers did play Lyon, Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Frankfurt in the Europa League, all of which I'd argue were Premier League level.
Oh yeah if we go up he will get a shot I’m sure. We will need a big overhaul of the squad if we go up but with so much to do in the summer I doubt replacing Aribo will be high up the list
If we were to go up, I actually feel AA will be a lot better. Too me he is a confidence player and when he is on fire he is on fire. That said, one game at a time. One off game under the lights at St Mary's. Then we'll have another discussion. Then maybe another after the Bank holiday weekend. Time for new Thread @StJabbo1 ?
I'm not convinced there's a great player there (though I do think he's probably a better finisher than Che), but it was just so predictable him getting the brunt of the criticism in that last game, where he played fine.
We're only at half time for this semi so far as I understood from the original discussion no new thread but draw the line and move on to Friday when AHB entertain WBA at SM stadium with a place in the final at Wembley Sunday 26th May at stake.
I agree the title needs changing otherwise west brom fans might get confused Ross Stewart looks a man on a mission to me. Exciting if he plays for this if Che not ready
By the same token, I'm struggling to understand why so many always seem to junp to his defence? Yes he's still young and has a lot to learn, but he's now been here almost 2 years, made over 50 appearances and really done nothing to suggest there's a half decent player in there and what is even worse is the lack of commitment which I find unforgivable.
That's not evidence. That's an opinion. My differing one is that he's a young player struggling to adapt to life in a foreign country. I think to accuse him of a lack of commitment or effort is at best very harsh and at worst downright nasty.
Because he's a young kid. I don't think anyone is saying he's brilliant - far from it. But he doesn't deserve the singling out that he gets.
Must say I haven't really seen him singled out or picked on at games [which is unforgivable], but I do think there's a growing opinion that he's not going to make it with Saints in whatever league we end up in.
I think I probably agree with that part. But as always, there's a difference between calling him "Ali Dia Mk 2" (courtesy of the Saints facebook comments) and "****", and realising that there's a decent enough pro footballer in there, just probably not quite good enough or right for us.
