Alright lads, Sunderland fan here. I see were apparently signing your Captain after this weekend. Just wondering what your thoughts are on him?? I must admit, ive never heard of him before... https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...gQIBRAC&usg=AOvVaw3rz5icfUgcPqHAj9YgXqGy&cf=1
It depends on what you want from your centre back. I like him (others do not) and if you want a no nonsense, put his head where it hurts and battling centre back then he is the man for you. If you want a ball playing centre back with some pace then he is not
I couldn't put it better, a committed, wholehearted, honest centre half, with good old aussie spirit, will give as good as it gets, good luck to him and I hope he does well for you.
Definitely not Championship, but tries hard and gives his all. Can be a disaster waiting to happen in his own box.
You’ll get a grafter and an honest pro who will put in a shift. He won’t set the world alight but his efforts and commitment can’t be faulted
Thanks lads, i appreciated the feedback. I must say im slightly disappointed with the description youve said about him because he sounds very familiar to what weve already got. While im here what do you think of Semenyo? Hes another weve been linked with
To be perfectly honest I can’t see why Semenyo gets anyone excited. He played well for Newport County on loan and everyone started talking about him - he was linked to a move to Chelsea at one point. We should have bitten their hands off. Don’t forget that’s LEAGUE 2 Newport are playing in. First time I saw him play for us, he got himself sent off vs Derby. Maybe a 2 division jump was too much for him? I’ve never personally been able to see the brilliance in him. Others may disagree (clearly LJ does). He’s ‘meh’ at best in my book - but then what do I know? He may benefit from dropping a league to boost his confidence - hope so.
Bailey Wright, good pro, versatile, great League one defender and a positive influence in the dressing room Can’t really say much on Semenyo as he only makes a sub appearance every so often for about 5-10 mins, played well at Newport but he should relish a move to Sunderland if he has any sense, a big club with a huge fan base will give him a huge confidence boost if he produces the goods
Spot on about Wright, couldn’t put it any better. Semenyo as you say definitely not championship standard , did well at Newport (league 2) , probably his standard at present, Sunderland I would have thought would want better, a good deal from our perspective though to give him an opportunity at League 1, or would it be better to send him back to Newport where he’s close , so we can keep a better eye on him and maybe even train with us at times , and more likely to get game time. That would be my option personally.
