Anyone remember Barmby scoring a really fast goal against Wallsall. I thought it was under 10 seconds but its not amongst the fastest goals on Wikipedia. I thought it was 7 seconds??
From Hull City Mad... Fastest Goal 8 seconds Nick Barmby 6th November 2004 - Hull City 3-1 Walsall Hull City kicked off the match at the KC Stadium attacking the North Stand. The ball was passed back to Damien Delaney, who kicked it long onto the right wing. Stuart Green controlled it and crossed into the box. Nick Barmby hit a firm, side-footed volley past the Walsall goalkeeper Joe Murphy.
I used to love the fact we always kicked off in the same way (pass back to Delaney, left footed curler out to the right wing) even though this is the only time I ever recall it coming to anything.
Thanks for that. Had my eldest with me that day. She was 8 at the time. Needless to say she wasn't looking at the time.
Back at Boothferry Park I remember Deano used to have a shot from the kick off, never scored, although I think he had a couple of keepers scrambling back.
I remember that game. Small world, my future uni house mate was in the opposite stand. Apparently he'd got his pie and hadn't finished reading the programme article when it kicked off, by the time he had looked up it was 1-0
What amazed me is that no opposition ever expected it. We did it every week - or certainly every home game - yet nobody was prepared for it. How much scouting or dvd watching did they used to do?
This goal doesn't appear on any 'fastest goals' list what so ever. Time for a campaign to get the recognition it deserves.
Bet the crowd was bigger then than now too, certainly by the sounds of it. How pathetic, you ****ing ****s Allams.
The 16,010 against Wallsall in 2004/05 looked like 16,000, the 16,207 claimed against Bolton in 2017/18 looked like 13,000.
the good old days when football was enjoyable! fantastic big hoof with a couple of touches goal, Pep can stick his 359 passes from goalie around the defence where the sun doesn't shine. take me back. Also when you used to be able to tackle instead of this none contact bollocks we seem to have now
