Dont suppose it ever really crossed any of our minds but when you think about it it must be a magnet for paedophiles, working with young lads. Sick bastard. Looks like a lot more is going to come out about this. well done to the 4 players for speaking out. Andy Woodward. David White. Paul Stewart. Steve Walters. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/16/andy-woodward https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/23/david-white https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/22/paul-stewart-sexual-abuse-coach https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/22/steve-walters-andy-woodward-crewe-alexandra
Doesn't surprise me it even went on at the school I was at, in the end the head got send down for 5 years for it. It was a running joke amongst us, the funniest one was we were playing a football match against another school on Costello and a pal of mine got the ball smashed into his nether regions. The head who was ref'ing shouted to him that he would come and attend to him, at which point my pal took flight holding his crotch and was last seen legging it down Pickering road with the head in pursuit.
Aye. There was more than a few rumours about Fat Fred a teacher at Ainthorpe and Schultz. He had a lot to do with City too.
Everyone had suspicions 40 years ago Cortez. Fred put his head on the train lines at Cott. When I played youth football and city boys Fred was about then. Someone to stay away from, you never went in his office at Schultz YC alone... Oh I'm not saying out happened to those two either.
I'm only 25 so this is before my time, Chazz. These sorts of stories are going to be rife up and down the country over the coming weeks as more people come forward. Awful for those people who went through it. On the news yesterday, people were saying it's going to be worse than Saville.
Probably in the same way as bennell Fred used to have lots of stuff to give out. Football kit, footy books etc in them days that was like playing for a million quid to us. We used to go likementalists to win the stuff He used to run Schultz youth club every night too, so more access to kids.
It was mentioned further up about Kevin Hector. Was in the pub the other night and people were on about their favourite players. One bloke said his was Kevin Hector. He was a Bradford City fan but used to go watch Bradford Park Avenue when he was a kid just to watch Kevin Hector. He has never mentioned it before but he told us he was in the stand that burnt down at Valley Parade. Very lucky, he owes his life to someone he described as looking like the sort of person you would cross the road to avoid at night.Has always wished he could meet up with him again to thank him.He has seen himself getting out of the stand and timed it, 32 seconds before the one engulfed in flames. He said it was a sign of the times that people didn't go forward on to the pitch as they would have been considered pitch invaders and headed to the back where they encountered locked gates. His best mate had horrific burns. Was treated with an experimental method by a plastic surgeon. One of the loudest rounds of applause he has heard at a game was when the surgeon was a guest of honour at a game some years later.
I was at Schultz in the early 70's,everybody knew about fred ramsden, though obviously no one seemed bothered about doing anything about him.
There's a "I went to Leo Shultz and survived" facebook group and he's mentioned a few times but only that he oversaw the football and had links to City. Had a quick Google earlier when Chazz said the name and that group came up.
That story soon escalated. I can't believe videos of that fire exist on YouTube. I'm surprised they weren't all pulled.
I felt a bit guilty after I spoke to him the other night as a previous discussion had been about people in this country getting banned for letting off smoke bombs and I took the side of someone saying they let off smoke bombs, flare and fireworks abroad with no problem and couldn't understand his opposition. I know why now.
