Can you remember the goal he scored against Everton, he was thirty yards out and just curled it into the top corner. It was one of those '**** me' momemts. He nearly repeated it against the mags but Given clawed it away, I was sat right behind the goal and everyone thought it was in. He was a joy to watch at that time. Ronnie
Kinkladze for man city. Unbelievable skills Favorite.. I was lucky to see best play for utd near end of his career. He was probably still hungover but was a class above anyone else on pitch I recall best commenting when asked if he believed Beckham was one of the best in the world Well he cant tackle, he has no pace, no left foot, never heads the ball and rarely tackles. Otherwise he is very good
I only saw him on tv but in 60 years of watching football Maradona is far and away the best player I have ever seen. At his peak he was unplayable. Pace, unbelievable strength, incomparable technique, will to win. Messi is very very good but not even a close second. An odious person but he was what makes you fall in love with the game if you never saw it before
Best Live ? Well I saw Stan Collymore tear us a new arsehole at Roker and Laurie Cunningham R.I.P. dismantle us for Orient. I remember seing Keegan boss the show too. Anelka impressed at the SOL for Chelsea once. My favourite though was George Best.
Tony Towers is my all time favourite SAFC player. Midfielder who had skill, tenacity, could pass a ball to fellow team member!!, leadership and scored the odd goal. Something we are seriously lacking in midfield
I'd give anything to have been able to watch Gazza live in the late 80's and early 90's. What an incredible footballer. With a full career there's not a doubt in my mind he'd be regarded as the best ever. I'll always remember Emerson's performance and goal against us at Roker Park. That guy was ****ing brilliant. He was more important for Boro than Juninho and Ravanelli. Bergkamp stands out a mile. I can't really add anything to what has been said about him. Genius. Vieira always pissed all over Roy Keane. He was by far the better player. Best Sunderland player is Kevin Phillips. .
Best I have seen at Roker Park other than Best who was in a league of his own, he was so flash. Alex Sabella, and for us, Stan Anderson against Arsenal in the FA cup stands out.
My nana was from Florence (well, Siena actually she was a glory supporter ), she had a picture of Batistuta on her mantle piece. No kids or grandkids, just Batigol. Never seen him live like, went to a Fiorentina game and he was injured.
Stan was indeed playing for Southend that day Along side him was Brett Angel & it was the same day as the abandoned grand national http://www.thestatcat.co.uk/Match.aspx?MatchID=521&LU=S&LUID=114 http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/april/3/newsid_4216000/4216143.stm
