More likely to cancel due to there being too much snow on the roof ...no, wait, that was Motley Crue's excuse for cancelling a gig at Wembley as they were getting carted off into rehab
Wasn't much celebration when he scored the penalty. Is he in the doghouse with his fellow players as well?
I hear the virus isn't a fan of big cold open spaces - like sports stadia in winter going on spring I guess. But I also think that government(s) have to be seen to be doing something so have picked on sport. I would suggest that you are more at risk if you go to the event on public transport. Yet I haven't heard calls for public transport to be suspended. Think about it, are you more at risk in an open stadium or stuck underground in a tube train?
Empty stadiums = loss of revenue. How will they be compensated? Will the clubs return fans ticket money? Will the players have their pay stopped? OH! CALAMITY!!!!
How will the Macclesfield's lower down pay their way when they can't pay their players? I see many clubs going out of business if they don't come up with a solution.
Here's the thing: for the last couple of decades the fans inside the stadium are the least important thing to Premier League clubs' spreadsheets, with TV money and Champions League revenue being far more important while the people coming through the gates is basically a bonus - with the most extreme examples being Man Utd, Barca and Los Ladrones who could probably play in front of empty stadiums for several years without their bottom lines being affected, and that's before adding teams propped up by whichever Russian or Middle Easterner who has 9% of the world's money in their respective bank accounts Of course the League One and League Two teams who do need people through the gates to keep going haven't heard so much as a syllable about how they will be taken care of in the event of having to play in front of empty stadiums for a period of time, and funnily enough I don't recall any pundits giving so much as a moment's thought to this either ...and now, tangent time! Considering how our stadium has been set up to generate revenue via the numerous bars and eateries, both of which are priced remarkably fairly to the point it's legit cheaper for me to get a round in at our stadium than it is anywhere in central Croydon, more than anything else this is where our ticket prices are utterly bloody ludicrous, because while a fan may be tempted to get another drink in due to the price (or, based on this season, desperate need for alcohol to take the pain away...) that's no justification for charging so much up front...unless we're planning on turning the stadium into the most exclusive member's bar there is, one where the patrons get a live football match
So let's go over what this Amazon documentary is going to contain - the squad falling apart - a popular manager getting sacked - a less than popular sociopath replacing him - significant injury problems - some utterly pathetic performances, before and after said injuries - the season being affected by Chinese Death Flu ...yeah, I'll be giving it a miss
Looking forward to Barnet's 60,000 home gate next weekend. No idea why National League matches are immune to viruses, though. They should share that secret.
Really enjoyed that. Deserves an Oscar! I can close my eyes and see Harry flying down the wing for West Ham...…...
