To be fair though, De Ridder has had the last 6 months to show what he can do. Now I'm not for one second saying that 6 months is a substantial period of time or anything, but he has still had that time. So I do think it's only right that the new guys now get their chance, especially as De Ridder hasn't performed as well as many of our other attacking players. De Ridder may turn out to be a really useful addition, and I'm certainly not writing him off yet, I just think it's right that he's moved aside - at least for now - to accomodate the Puncheon's and the Sharp's in the squad. But now it's up to them to keep themselves ahead of him. Just as De Ridder had no divine right to stay in the matchday squad, nor do they - yet.
Don't get me wrong, I totally agree. Puncheon, Chaplow, Falque, Sharp and Guly are all ahead of him in the pecking order, and it's because they are better players. There's no doubting that, but after 6 months of minimal playing time (2 starts, 19 sub appearances) he finally gets the chance to play two games in quick succession - and plays well. He then gets injured, misses one game, and now suddenly he's been cast adrift, it's just unfortunate for him.
WH bench is very bold. No keeper, three strikers and two attacking midfielders. Should they get some injuries at the back they will be in trouble. Not sure how I think this one will go, they should win easily despite the result against Ipswich but you just never know. With the amount of attacking options they have..whats the bets that they fail to score? What do people think the result will be?
Just about to leave for the frozen north. Hoping to witness a combative performance where we don't concede first and have to chase the game. If the snow is as heavy as forecast, this may be my last post for a few days. As Captain Oates once said " I'm just going off to watch the Saints. I may be some time"
Just started snowing up here in brum peeps. Only for 5 minutes mind, but it's the beginning of what could be a very snowy bitter day!
Brum, Cardiff, Boro, Hull, Reading and ourselves have prob spent less money combined than West Ham or Leicester; it shows money is not everything.
Better cancelled than played in awful conditions as bad weather favours the worse team Pardew said that Saints were racehorses who didn't like mud, perhaps we should ring him up and ask about snow.
I'm not feeling overly positive about this one, partly because of the form tables and partly because we are on sky! 2-1 to Brum is my prediction.
According to Adam Blackmore, it's snowing heavily in Brum and some people in overcoats and suits are looking at the pitch. The pitch itself is ok but there's doubt over the safety of fans leaving the stadium due to dropping temperatures and falling snow. He thinks the match will start though.
