WTF is with this bog roll bulk buying? Here in Swindle the shelves are empty. I’m lucky enough to have a Booker account so I went there today - they had a bloke guarding the bog roll section ensuring that business owners were restricted to buying only 2 cases each!! There really isn’t any need for this - the bog roll factories are still operational. My eldest daughter who is still in China finds it hilarious!!!
You won't believe me but I was in our local Aldi last Wednesday and I saw a bloke clear every packet of dried flavoured rices in one section, he must have had 200/300 minimum, probably was more and pile them into his trolley, I spotted him at the checkout later, shopping trolley overloaded with bog rolls, kitchen towles 10 stories high, paid his bill, negotiated the exit doors and spilt the lot all over the car park. I calmly put all of my extras in the back of my vehicle, went home and washed my hands of the whole matter.
did he only have 1 trolley … In 1979I went on a mountain expedition in Austria we took loads of pasta and vesta foods .. the need for toilet rolls was minimal. that what passes through was every couple of days!!! and a stick was needed to break it off … better stop there!
Just say for instance you go into lock down like Italy for 4 weeks. You will be wishing after week three you bought that extra bog roll. I’m ok my wife has been planning for this since we got together. We’ve always got two packs of 12, and enough shampoo to last a hair salon a month
Absolutely crazy and largely the fault of the media for the relentless coverage of it. More people die each year from real Influenza. Brilliant !
already made contingency plans put the used paper in a flip top kitchen bin with portable dehydrator packs in, to draw out the moisture if any [ some has to go down the loo if to wet …! ] and a bit of lavender spray .. end of day remove and store ………………………..
The vegans and vegetarians are at it as well. In Sainsburys the meat free section can't be stocked fast enough. I did see a couple piling one product into their trolley clearing the shelf. Empathy for animals and the environment not stretching to humanity there.
Was in Sainsbury's today. Its looks like its been looted for bog roll!! Pastas taken a beating as well, No flour, all gone either white or wholemeal, plain or self raising its gone . There's gonna be some serious baking going on by the look of it.
gosh think of all the electric and gas being used will add to the carbon emissions chronic especially as it is a new thing for some … apple pie with a seriously brown crust, black around the edges .. maybe just a cinder!
Can't say I've noticed this at all myself. Been to Asda Whitchurch, Tesco Brislington and Sainsburys Emersons Green in the past week. All fully stocked vegan/veggie stuff in chilled and frozen sections. Toilet rolls on the other hand....! Hand sanitiser I can understand the logic (even if it's completely flawed) but toilet roll is bizarre.
We were in Aldi and Sainsburys yesterday and in both shops the obvious items were gone but sugar and tomato juice were completely sold out, staff remarked they had sold more than at Christmas on both items, sugar I understand but tomato juice.
Been out again. No sign of the Walking Dead but might self Isolate myself as i could do with a few weeks off work. stocked up on soup just in case. but no bog roll and the flours still taking a big hit.
Just been to Asda at Cribbs Causeway in my lunch break No loo rolls, no Pasta and it's like Xmas Eve in there. People walking around with trolleys piled high with stuff I overhead an older couple who were shopping there. The gentleman had just picked up 6 x fresh trays of 16 Sausages per tray (96 sausages) and put them in their trolley She then said 'wass want all they Sausages for ?' He replied 'Might not be able to get any in a couple a weeks' I had to smile...…...
On the C4 news some professionals say its psychological and people will go for big items e.g bog roll and non perishable foods like pasta. this makes them feel safer.
Have they never heard of newsprint cut up and threaded on a piece of string. Start up a new manufacturing plant and make a million.
