Don't forget we are playing a team that got promoted last season. They have not undergone the massive changes we have. We have to accept (reluctantly) that this is going to take time.
Wow, what a first half that was, a fast paced game with equal amounts of skill and crappy mistakes. It started with a nice tap in for Bonne, created by Burns who has been outstanding so far with his confidence on the ball. In Burns we now have a player that doesn't panic in the final third and just works the ball and either gets passed his man or gets a decent cross in. KVY picked up a needless yellow card as he struggled against Afolayan. Bolton then score to bring it to 1-1 and then KVY makes a poor decision and poorly timed tackle to give a penalty away....1-2 Bolton. Cook decides it's too risky to leave him on the field and subs him for Donacien. A tough call but the correct one in my opinion. The game continued in end to end fashion and Burns again worked his man and got a ball into the box that I think was turned in by a Bolton defender although Bonne may have got a touch...2-2. After more good work from Burns, Bonne just misses a decent chance and then Bolton went straight up the other end and scored a simple goal that really should have been avoided. Coulson, Aluko and in particular Bonne and Burns have played well. Evans and Harper haven't stood out, really time for Carroll to get a run out. Chaplin has looked more effective than Fraser and I'd give him a couple of games now. I feel Walton could have come for a couple of crosses and the two centre backs have done ok, a partnership that looks like it will come good. Donacien has been solid. More goals in the second half are almost guaranteed....come on Ipswich!
Donacien is the only player trying to communicate and gee the players up, Aluko is doing his defensive duties well and helping out.
Bonne just misses, the shot comes off the post and goes across the face of goal without crossing the line.
What a shambles that was in the end. It looked like being a competitive match for the first half hour but we just crumbled after Bolton's third goal and it was all downhill from there. Bonne, Burns, Coulson and Aluko played well enough and Donacien was solid when he came on but nobody else could complain if they were dropped for the next league game. Some serious improvements are needed before Cook finds himself really under the cosh from fans.
I think he is already seriously under the cosh SD, i think once we get Morsy, Celina and Edwards playing...things will take off but can Cook survive that long.....i have my doubts!
