Bristol City v Derby County Bristol City have striker Nahki Wells pushing to start as they look to bounce back from a loss to Birmingham City. Defender Tomas Kalas is back in training after a hamstring injury and midfielder Adam Nagy is fit again, but Marley Watkins [calf] is out. Derby County, on a run of five wins from seven games, could recall Max Lowe following a three-match ban. Former England midfielder Tom Huddlestone is expected to miss out again because of a calf problem. Match facts Bristol City have lost just once in their last seven league games against Derby (W2 D4), though it was in this fixture last season at Ashton Gate. Derby have won three of their last five away league games against Bristol City (D1 L1), with those wins achieved under three different managers (Clough, Wassall, Lampard). Bristol City have lost their last two league matches played on Wednesday, conceding four goals in each defeat to West Brom (1-4) and Brentford (0-4). Following their 3-2 win at Swansea at the weekend, Derby are looking to secure back-to-back away league wins for the first time since January 2018. Derby's Martyn Waghorn has been involved in three goals in his last two league games (2 goals, 1 assist), as many as he had in his previous 12 (3 goals). Official ~ Preview: Derby County (H) Tuesday, February 11th 2020 City are looking to bounce back for the visit of Derby County under the Ashton Gate lights on Wednesday (February 12th, 7.45pm KO). Birmingham City ran out winners on Friday night to end City's four-game winning run in the league but they know a win against the Rams can take them back into the play-offs. They were victorious at Pride Park when Andreas Weimann and Josh Brownhill fired City to the 2-1 win back in August, though it has been Derby's home form which has been something to celebrate for manager Phillip Cocu. They sit around the midtable mark and, with the Championship as tight as it is, were just six points off the play-offs following Saturday's 3-2 win over Swansea. But on the road it has been a struggle for the Rams, who have finished in the play-offs four times in the last five seasons. They have won just twice away in the league all season, their latest being the win in South Wales. But Derby, bolstered by the impact of the vastly experienced player/coach Wayne Rooney, are in form with three victories in a row in both league and Emirates FA Cup. Att: 12,738 City continued their unbeaten start in the league under Denis Smith, stretching their run to four games with this televised goal fest away to Derby County. The Robins had to fight from behind after two goals from Paul Simpson gave the Rams an early lead. However, the visitors struck back through left-back Martin Scott and winger Junior Bent, to peg the scores to 2-2 with 15 minutes remaining. An Andy Comyn own goal then put City in front for the first time before Simpson raced up the other end to complete his hat-trick as the goal frenzy continued at the Baseball Ground. But there was still time for Wayne Allison to leave his mark with a match-winning header from Jacki Dziekanowski’s cross two minutes from the end, as both teams provided the audience with an afternoon of entertainment. Bristol City XI: Welch, Mitchell, Scott, Thompson, Bryant, Osman, Mellon, Harrison, Dziekanowski, Allison, Shelton. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/preview-derby-county-h/
He definitely needs to sort the midfield out, the last 2 games have been very poor in terms of creativity. No good having a £5M forward if he never gets the ball, we need to be quicker getting the ball from defence to attack. Maybe an old fashioned 4-4-2 tonight with Pato and Nico on the wings and Fammy and Nakhi up top, with Korey and either Nagy or the new guy in the middle?
interesting... since Rooney played 18 pts up for grabs and they have pocketed 13 of them what we want now is when Nakhi plays we get 13 out of the next 18!!!!!!
I think we’d be over run in midfield if we use 4-4-2, but we do need to find a way to use Fam and Wells.
it appears it is a 4-4-2, or a 4-1-3-2, with Hendrickson as a CDM. Either way I hope they do wellland I wake up to a win!
Massengo and Nagy dropped altogether, Baker on the bench , seems odd , Hendrickson not fit enough for last 20-30 mins Fri yet starts tonight . Let’s hope we get all 3 points tonight , COYR
